Has anyone started a new tradition for Christmas? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I started a new tradition three years ago, attending Christmas Eve services at multiple churches.

It's fun to see how other faiths observe Christmas, and I've learned a few things along the way. For example, while attending a service at a Episcopal Church acouple of years ago I found out there really is a "Twelve Days of Christmas" and on the twelth day I have a "Last Hurrah" where I'll have either Turkey or Rib Roast (The one that wasn't eaten on December 25 gets eaten on January 6) and at the stroke of midnight all the lights get extinguished for the last time.

Has anyone else started any new traditions? Feel free to post away!

This year I am going to pass out Christmas crackers to my guests. I have seen them used on British sitcoms. You pull the crackers apart and inside are paper hats, small toys ,etc. You place a cracker at each place setting and after dinner you open it and then wear the hat the rest of the day. It looks like fun so I hope my relatives feel the same way! I like that tradition so I'm going to try them for the first time this Christmas

Well...I go to my sisters every Christmas Day, which I've been doing since 2012.

So if I ever have a family...which will be when Cleveland wins a Championship...I'll be seeing the in-laws on Christmas Eve after church.

this is a bit off-topic, but every Christmas our family gather at my brother and sister-in-laws house to open presents, etc. and they always make a big dinner and after dinner they hand those out to everyone and we open them. We've been doing it for about 10 years now.

This year on Christmas evening I will be at the airport waiting to depart on my trip to Barcelona.

I wish going to Europe was a new Christmas tradition, but I have a feeling it's just going to be for this year, lol.

It could be every other year...

I'm hoping to pick-up some traditions that I didn't do this year, like go to the Milan Melon Fest on Labor Day (It's NOT in Italy, it's a small town in Ohio where Thomas Edison was born), have a Summer I'll Never Forget where I go to many places in the summer, hopefully with a new pastor at my church we can have a Seder Meal, watch Groundhog Day on Super Bowl Sunday rather than watch The Super Bowl (unless the Browns make it...fat chance), watch Nothing but Trouble and Rocky Horror on Halloween (my own type of science-fiction double-feature), have a retro Thanksgiving Weekend where I watch cartoons, MST3K, and Christmas Shows that weekend, and maybe have a post-Christmas shopping trip to Kraynak's in Sharon, Pennsylvania which is what I'm doing next Saturday.

On Christmas Day, 1992 I was at the Miami Airport waiting for my flight to Mexico City. While I waited for the cue to board, it became apparent I was the only passenger in this group who spoke English. I had that feeling I was only an inch tall.

In spite of this I still had a lot of fun, although I didn't get to carry out my prime objective (Ride La Montana Rusa) because it was closed for maintenance.

As soon as ACE announces a gathering in Mexico, I'm out the door, NOBODY offs me like that and gets away with it!

PS Seeing all their buildings lit up for Christmas was a sight to behold, some parts of the city were like "Las Vegas, EAT YOUR HEART OUT!"
