Movie Sylvester Stallone Returns to "Rocky" Steps for "Creed" Promotion

Dear White People’s Tessa Thompson Lands Creed Lead
by Jen Yamato
December 16, 2014

MGM’s Rocky spin-off Creed has found its female lead in Tessa Thompson, the actress who broke out this year in the Sundance hit Dear White People and also can be seen in Ava DuVernay’s upcoming Oscar contender Selma.

Thompson will star opposite Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan in the film from Fruitvale Station‘s Ryan Coogler, which will see Stallone reprise his iconic character Rocky Balboa, now a trainer and mentor to the grandson (Jordan) of his boxing bestie Apollo Creed.

Coogler, who scripted with Aaron Covington, teamed with Stallone to pitch the project to MGM and is helming it as his follow-up to his Cannes-, Gotham- and Spirit Award-winning 2013 debut Fruitvale Station.

Original Rocky producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff are producing alongside Stallone and Kevin King.

I'm not really interested in seeing this because Sylvester needs to leave these Rocky movies alone and do something else. Why is he desperate for money? That's what it seems like to me because I guess 6 Rocky movies aren't enough to him and now he feels that he should do a spinoff of the movie and that doesn't need to be done. I heard he's gonna do another Rambo movie as if 4 Rambos aren't enough LOL. I know he's gonna do a few more Expendables movies and he doesn't need to do anymore of those because the last one was kinda disappointing. But whatever it's his life. I saw previews for a straight to video movie he did with rapper Nelly and Terry Crews that's coming out this month and it looks ok. Looks like it's a dramatic movie and he usually doesn't do drama movies.

I like Tessa Thompson. She's very cute. I've seen a couple of her movies like For Colored Girls and Everyday Black Man with Omari Hardwick. Michael Jordan(I can't believe he has the same name as the NBA basketball star LOL). I saw him in Fruitvale Station movie which is good and it's based on a true story.

Michael B. Jordan is getting a lot of recognition too I guess he's one of those rare good looking African American guys that don't look like Mekhi Pfeiffer or Yaphet Koto.

How is he getting a lot of recognition? He hasn't been in a lot of movies LOL. Most of the movies he's done have been straight to video or independent movies that come to small theaters.

I first noticed him in Chronicle, then I think he did some rom-com with Zak Efron and he got raves for his performance in Fruitvale Station.

...oh yeah and he's gonna be the Human Torch in FOX's rebooted Fantastic Four film.

I saw that movie he did with Zac Efron and that movie was ok. It was different seeing him being friends with 2 white men. First time I saw him was in a movie called Blackout with Zoe Saldana, Melvin Van Peebles, Jeffrey Wright.

Sylvester Stallone Returns to the Famous Rocky Steps in Philadelphia
by Nick Romano
11/7/15

In 1976, Rocky Balboa triumphantly ran up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and became “The Italian Stallion” underdog of legend. Now, actor Sylvester Stallone returns to where it all began to promote the franchise continuation Creed.

Stallone was accompanied by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson, director Ryan Coogler, and producer Irwin Winkler for a press conference on Friday.

If you don’t think you can make it up these steps of life, which is kind of representative of this museum, don’t you believe that because if I can do it, you can do it,” Stallone told the crowd, according to NJ.com.

That’s what this film is about — it’s about grabbing hold of an idea, putting aside your fears, lowering your head and driving forward.
