Cool Screen Gems Network

I really wish that "Screen Gems Network" would show some of the shows they say will one day be on it. Like these:

"Diff'rent Strokes"*
"The Facts of Life"*
"SOAP"
"The Monkees"

And Others

*Maybe show the episodes NAN doesn't air

You know, Screen Gems had a lot more shows than I ever thought. I bet if they went through their entire catalog they could have a 24 hour network.

SG has over 350 shoes in it's vaults. They could make a good NAN 2 or TVLand 2 network!

Screen Gems is not a 'seperate' network. They syndicate their programs to local channels much like Entertainment Tonight does. Some areas get 2 hours a day, for example here in Atlanta they have an hour in the morning and another different hour in the afternoon.

The Monkees was one of their programs they showed awhile back, they aired it with The Partridge Family. They've aired about 2 episodes of Diff'rent Strokes that I remember and atleast 1 Facts of Life episode. They had a Before They Were Stars week and a Christmas theme week in 1998.

Hopefully, with their huge library of shows they can eventually become a 24/7 network such as TV Land.

I hope that there is someway we could get Screen Gems to show Soap. They show Benson and they just showed the 2 episodes of that show with Katherine Helmond. Of course, one reason why SGN might not show Soap is that they can't air the episodes out of order like their other shows. They like to have connecting themes between the shows in their 2 syndication packages.

Just picture this. Bob saying something about Danny. Danny goes over and chokes Bob, who is a dummy.

This is probably more than any of you ever want to know, but...

Screen Gems Network is syndicated by Columbia/TriStar (owned by Sony), which has an ENORMOUS library. Columbia's television arm was actually called Screen Gems up until the early 70s. I remember at the end of some older sitcoms, they'd show the Columbia statue and an announcer would intone "This has been a Screen Gems television production, from the Hollywood studios of Columbia Pictures." Later on, they used a little circle surrounded by two swirls as their logo (check out the end of a "Partridge Family" rerun to see this). They eventually dropped the Screen Gems name and called it Columbia Television. It's now called Columbia/TriStar Television Distribution (CTTD). Columbia has revived the Screen Gems name for SGN, for a videotape collection of old shows, and for a movie distributor.

CTTD owns the Norman Lear shows ("All in the Family", etc.), "Bewitched", "I Dream of Jeannie", "Charlie's Angels", "Donna Reed", "Hart to Hart", "Fantasy Island", "Who's the Boss?", "The Nanny", and way too many more to list here. I've got to think that Columbia has thought about starting their own cable network to rival Viacom, which owns Nick and TV Land. They sure have the library for it.

This has no relevance, but I noticed at the end of my 3 Route 66 tapes that that show was a screen gems show as well. So if they do make a 24/7 network, SHOW THIS SHOW!!!!!

I remember like just last year during the summer when I took a break from middle school they had the shows put in a special order, they all had something in common:
Mondays:Bewitched and Jeannie (magic)
Tuesdays:Square Pegs and FOL (school)
Wednesdays:Flying Nun and Gidget(Sally Fields
Thurdays:Partridges and Monkees (musical)
FridaysS and Benson (Afro-American stars)
They had Christmas episodes of all these shows except the Sally Fields shows (they had showed other christmas episodes of FOL and Square Pegs)They just show Benson and The Jeffersons now all the time!I miss those shows.Don't get me wrong I cherish The Jeffersons and Benson but I've had enough!
This is how I would have it:
I'd make it two hours back to back every day!
I don't care if the shows aren't in their library I just would make it like this:
Mon:Bewitched,Jeannie,Girl/ESP,?????
Tues:Facts,Square Pegs,Kotter,Room 222
Wed:ILL,The Lucy Show,Here's Lucy,Life w/Lucy
Thurs:Monkees,Partridge,Brady Bunch,?????
FriS,Benson,What's Happening!,Good Times
Wouldn't that be perfect?

Cool

Anyone catch the Burns & Allen block that aired recently? I think SGN should air more of these episodes in their syndicated packages.

>>Girl/ESP<<

Wow, was "The Girl with Something Extra" a Screen Gems/Columbia show? It would be interesting to see that one again. USA showed reruns a LONG time ago.

Does anyone know when Screen Gems will change the shows they air? I've had enough of "Benson", 'Jeffersons', 'Jeannie', and "Bewitched", and three of them are on cable!
