Nice finds! So were these photos in the public domain when Cheers used them, or did the producers have to pay the photographer for their use?

Well most of them were from books they probably found. The barbershop is called Rudy Sohn's Barbershop in Junction City, KS.

There's a book called Our Town on the Plains, which contains photos from the 18th and 19th century. Some of the photos Castle/Bryant/Johnsen use are on the opening credits.
