Default Exodus. Gods and Kings.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS These are things though u may figure out watching the trailer.

I just returned from seeing this, and to be honest, I have mixed reviews. These of course reflect my opinions, and mine alone.

First up. I thought it was a good movie, but it seemed a little cold. I don't mean this in the action or killing scenes. Those scenes of course would be cold. I mean in the way it portrayed the relationship between God and Moses. Most of the movies I've seen regarding the Exodus, and in the stories I've read in the Holly Scriptures, portray Moses relationship with God as more loving and respectful than as is portrayed in this movie.

The Moses in this story is very doubting and very hard headed. It is true that the real Moses was doubting and hard headed, but not like this one.
And also, Christian Bale's Moses seems more like a military general, which is not the Moses I am used to seeing. Infact, God even refers to him as a general.

We do get to see the burning bush, but god sends something else beyond the burning bush to address Moses.

Don't expect to hear. "Cast off your shoes from your feet. For the place you're standing is holy ground" It's not said, or even implied.

The Actors and Actresses played it real. I did like Ramses. Although Him and Moses didn't seem as close as they did in Prince of Egypt. They did seem closer than they were in The Ten Commandments.

The CGI was great. But the parting of the red sea may not be what you expected. Especially if you go into this movie with the 10 Commandments, or Prince of Egypt frame of mind. Which I urge you not to do.

This movie portraying the freeing of the Hebrews from 400 years of bondage in Egypt, seems more like it was written from a worldly point of view instead of a Godly one. Like the writers took a few things from the Bible and just went wild with the rest, adding their own stories.

I did like it for it's special affects and acting. However, most of the story does focus on Moses and Ramses, and not much focus on Joshua, Arron or Miriam. Ben Kingsley plays Nun. A Hebrew wise man who is in the story, but we don't see allot of either.

This is more of a Christian Bale is the star and has to get 75% of the screen time, movie. The only actor that gets nearly as much time is. Joel Edgerton who plays Ramses, but then Ramses is the bad guy so he has to.

I give this movie a 7.5 IMHO

If I go to see this movie, I'd be going in with a Biblical frame of mind- and reading your review has confirmed my suspicions that it would not be totally Biblical, unfortunately. (Of course, it is coming from an atheist- but that shouldn't make a difference. If you're going to make a movie based on any existing product, you should respect the source material. And particularly when you're making a movie based on The Word of God- you should be faithful to the source material, in my opinion. Yes, there is room for people to make their own creations inspired by The Bible- but I just wish they wouldn't.)
Thanks for posting your insightful review.
Oh well- I might like to see the movie at some point, but if I do, I may just wait for it to get released to video. However, if any family or friends want to go see it, I'll probably go with them. It's great to have a movie about a Biblical subject- if nothing else, it can inspire conversations about Moses and the Exodus and The Lord- and I'm always happy to talk about The Bible and God and the salvation He offers us through Jesus' death and Resurrection.

I'd like to see the movie, maybe it's better than Noah.

Default Exodus: Gods and kings & Noah

if you grew up in Sunday school or church you may be disappointed instead of staff mosses has a sword then instead of mosses turning water into blood with his staff they had these giant gators that attack the pharos fisher man then the lake gets bloody they really don't mention nothing about god their was one time were the phro said who's doing this and mosses said my god I wont give away too much but if your looking for a bible story like you heard in Sunday school or church you may be disappointed though it wasn;t far out like Nohan

Christian Bale should do better than Tom Cruise, IMO.
