Default The only opening credit clip not included in an episode

So this has been a big mystery for me, and I'm glad I'm finally remembering to post it here.

In the intro theme, there is one clip that I have not seen actually included in a FOL episode. It is in the introductory clips for Jo, and it's the one where Mrs. Garrett is standing by the counter in the cafeteria near the kitchen and Jo pops up from behind it, in front of the swinging kitchen door, holding a wrench or something. Mrs. Garrett has a patient look and Jo looks kind of annoyed.

Was this clip ever included in syndication?...on a VHS release?...if the DVDs are in fact complete, does this mean it was cut from ever airing in the first place, having just been included in the intro?

(This is the clearest screen-shot I could grab at YT)

thats curious. whats the total runtime? does it look below average? I know i've seen it before - but can't remember if it was from the actual ep or the opening! I'm more of a later years fan...

This also happened in Season 8 - Wheres poppa. they used a scene cut from the episode entirely and put it into the opening credits.

It may have been specific for the intro. Maybe it was not supposed to be part of the episode. It really doesn't matter to me since it does not take away from the show whether it was part of an episode or not.

I haven't compared run times, I've just noticed it for a long time and always wondered.

It looks exactly like a clip from the episode. Every clip in the intros are from episodes, and even all the "face credits" of the actresses are too except for two version of Kim Fields in the cafeteria seasons; I always wondered why they did those for her too instead of just using clips of her from episodes.

I know it doesn't take away from the show, but I'm just very curious what the dialogue is there and if it was ever actually in the episode in the first place.

I KNOW! I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!

This is a cut scene from "The Four Musketeers". This is when Jo tells Mrs. Garrett that they haven't had a chance to talk since they moved out in anger.

Hm...weird. I know that clip very well from the opening credits but I've never noticed not actually seeing that clip live. Crazy.
Maybe it was an outtake, never made it off the cutting room floor.
One of the many mysteries of FoL.

You're right, it is "The Four Musketeers"! And it was cut from the episode! THANK YOU!

Now I wonder if it aired in the original airing and was just cut after that for syndication, or what---but, it's still not on DVD! At least, not in the season 3 set---perhaps it has been restored for the complete series set, like the first part of Kim's packing scene in "Overachieving" has been?

Nope, it's not included in the complete set. I think this is the case of Where's Poppa? where there was an original version of the episode and they redid it before it aired even though scenes were shot for the credits. Here's the clip I'm talking about that was never in an episode but it's in the season 8 and 9 opening credits.

I would have liked to have seen the original shot of Where's Poppa?. I think it was someone here, they found an episode promo for the original cut and it shows Beverly Ann, Tootie, and Jo at Blair's bedroom door who appears to have locked herself in. Natalie comes down the hallway with an ax preparing to chop the door down. It looks like it would have been a funny scene. It's a shame they redid it.

After searching, I was able to find that promo I was talking about. This is an extremely rare find IMO. Where's Poppa? episode promo (sorry, the code for YouTube video doesn't work on this one). I wonder how many other episodes were redone before airing.

Ha, that is funny---and how neat we get a look at the hallway right outside their door! I don't believe that is shown in any other episode!
