I can't remember her name, but it was a story about a woman who had memories of being adopted by a family & she was looking for them. It seemed as though as she had made up this family and it was all in her imagination. She mentioned being abused as a child & was put into a foster home & eventually ended up with this couple. She didn't seem "all there" to me.Anyone remember this case? What were the results?

Her name was Miriam. Her alleged adoptive parents have never been found.

I never quite knew what to make of this story. On one hand, it seemed that there was some evidence that she was suffering from false memory syndrome considering that...
- her biological mother denied that she ever was in foster care. - no records of the court proceedings could be located. However, there were explanations for both. It was implied that the biological mother would have had motivation for denying the foster care details giving their strained relationship. Also, Stack mentioned that some of the records from that period were destroyed. Supposedly, there was an update some time later in which someone sent in a photograph of the alleged foster parents. I've never seen the update myself. I don't know if it was on NBC or what. I don't think this segment ever made it to Lifetime until the Farina revamp. |

Is that the case where the adoptive father was a firefighter with prematurely white hair?

I don't at all know what to make of this story, either. I've always wanted to believe it's true, admittedly. |
