And what's with the parents naming their youngest twins "Jack and Diane"? "Jack And Diane" was a HUGE hit song for John Mellancamp back in the day.

I don't like kids that young on a family sitcom

The youngest daughter (Diane) acts like a know it all. The oldest daughter Zoe acts like a total snob. The oldest son Andre Jr. acts like a nerd and the youngest son (Jack)... I wanted to smack him a few episodes ago when he insisted on hiding all the time.
I agree the wife is weird. She was acting like a mental case at Jack's baseball game.

They do act like a bunch of mental rejects. There's that white guy who insisted on hiding in the trash can on Halloween and then there's the black guy who always acts like he's only got one brain cell.

I just found the Halloween episode funny but we're just 6-7:episodes in and there's something about the show that doesnt hold my interest, maybe its trying to be like The Cosby Show and The Fresh Prince and I'm just tired of recycled ideas.

One thing about the cosby show and fresh prince is they didn't have 2 kids under 6 years old on the show lol

Default Jack and Diane origin was on Young & Restless

Before the song, on the #1 soap opera, Young and Restless, the main love story at the time was between Jack and Diane. Which later used the song itself as some of their music.

So perhaps the song indirectly came from from John seeing the soap.

BTW, I love black-ish. It is suppose to be a modern day comedy and sort of a mix between Cosby and believe it or not, The Simpsons, which also tweaked Cosby in the beginning.

It just might be my favorite brand new sitcom of the year.

That has to be who he's referring to and it's wrong, the song came before the Y&R storyline. The Lp American Fool was released on April 12, 1982 and the Diane Jenkins character debuted on Y&R the following month. John has also stated that "Jack & Diane" was based on the 1962 Tennessee Williams film Sweet Bird of Youth.

LOL@TVFactFan dissing Blackish hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I'm glad you decided not to watch the show anymore. I gave up on it awhile ago and I haven't watched it. Anthony's wife Tracey is ugly hahahahahahahahaha. Her big eyes scare me LOL. They could've found somebody cuter to play his wife like Tracey's ex co-stars on Girlfriends like Golden Brooks, Persia White, Jill Marie Jones.
