instead of recasting the character. I mean Lecy could have came on even once a season to guest star as Becky. Was there really a need to recast her? I like Sarah Chalke and think she was great on Scrubs but as Becky I didn't like her. I would have preferred Becky just being written off or guest starring.

I think Sarah Chalke didn't capture the intense, overly emotional aspect of Becky. She seemed kind of like window dressing. It was awkward to try and watch her emote.
She was great on SCRUBS but at that point she lacked the depth to pull off the hardscrabble bitchiness of Becky. It was like they played 2 completely different characters. |

I don't think they should of written the character out completely. I think they should of had Mark and Becky move away, but kept them in the show via phone calls and occasional appearances.
I know Lecy went to college, and good for her. But if I'm the producers, I let her go to school but keep her as a part-time character. I don't see why she couldn't make 3-5 appearances per season. Many EPs are filmed in August anyway. Lecy Goranson was Becky Connor. She elevated the character as much as the great writing did. Sarah Chalke is a beautiful girl and went on to be a decent actress, but she was all wrong in the part as Becky. She was too inexperienced as an actress at the time for such an important TV role and seemed out of place. The whole Becky character changed after Chalke took over, and not for the better. |

Looks like I'm in the minority in here, but yes, they should have written out of her out of the show. Sarah Chalke as Becky was just terrible, she just wasn't a great actress. Her portrayal was such an airhead it didn't even feel like Becky.

Sarah Chalke was terrible. Lecy was so underrated - I never understood why Sara Gilbert got all the acclaim.
But Sara was going down to part time status for season 6, and the producers wanted Becky back to help pick up the slack. |
