Default I still can't figure out why ladies supposedly like Jack Tripper.

Watching "And Justice For Jack" again last night really pointed out the silliness of it all. Hard to believe Jack was ever considered a good chef, considering how bumbling he was working at the diner. It's a good thing he owned a restaurant because he wasn't going to cut it long term working for anybody else. He was moving so slow, too easily distracted, and burned himself on the grill, which is something you'd think a guy who knew his way around the kitchen still wouldn't do. This was definitely a guy who maybe could easily make a good meal when he had time and nobody was bothering him, but he wasn't going to ever be good in a high-pressure situation.
And the boss was pinching Jack all the time. What guy has ever been fondled that much by a woman he barely knows?

It's always strange how beautiful women at the first sight of Jack say "take me now!" and immediately start kissing him. This guy who never held down a steady job until the Bistro and was never rich was supposedly just adored by every sexy woman out there.

So many things I don't get, but I guess that's the point of Three's Company. You just have to suspend all kinds of disbelief if you're going to enjoy it all.

I think you're underestimating the power of charm and good looks. It's not like the women he went out with wanted to marry him. As long as he could put a meal or two "on his tab" at the Regal Beagle, give her a good rogering, and show her a good time all without acting like a douche, they were satisfied.

A nice guy is worth a hundred rich guys. A nice guy who can cook? Goodbye, panties.

And remember, this show was mostly a 70s show, not an 80s show, so I would argue most everyone, men and women, were less concerned with bank accounts in the 1970s and just enjoyed getting laid.

I do agree with you about how Jack was in the kitchen. Even at Angelino's he was quite the klutz. If you stop and think at how Felipe was denied promotion and had to answer to Jack not only at Angelino's but also at the Bistro, it's not too funny. But like you say, there's a lot of "it's just a show, relax" mental adjustment that needs to happen.

You are right about that. Women cared less about a man's "bank account" than. It was the 70's before HIV and that is true, people still were into the free love thing. And Jack was a fun, nice guy too. I personally don't find Jack to be an attractive guy at all physically, he does nothing for me, but to each their own. And it made the show funny with the women digging him!
