Default Reply here if you think the 1960's was the worst decade for TV sitcoms

That decade just did not produce many watchable shows and I can only watch one which is Gomer Pyle and That Girl. The majority of the shows seems like they would not even make it today and only survived back then because of no competition. And lots of them seemed more geared toward kids which was not the case in the 1970's at all. Shows like

Addams Family

Bewitched

Dennis the Menance

Flying Nun

Gilligan's Island

I dream of Jeannie

Mister Ed

My Mother the Car

My favorite Martian

The Beverly Hillibilies

Never could get into any of these shows since they had the kiddie feel to them. Anyone else not like a show on this from the 1960's?

I think the 60s was one of the strongest decades for great sitcoms and TV in general. My absolute favorites from the decade are: The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Hazel, Mister Ed, Petticoat Junction, & That Girl. I like many more shows from the decade but these are my top favorites.

Strongest? They were too innocent and plain, no controversy or anything.

The only show that had a little edge was Gomer Pyle

The worst for me is 1990 - present, There's not a single sitcom from that era that even remotely holds my interest.

Nothing wrong with being "innocent and plain". I miss those days.

I'll agree with you to an extent. I think once 2000 hit, all sitcoms sucked and like you, they could never hold my interest. The only current sitcom that I can tolerate is "The Goldbergs" which is about the '80s.
As for the sixties, my favorite was "Dennis the Menace." Damn, I love that show!

Here's another vote for the Sixties as a great decade for sitcoms, with Bewitched and Andy Griffith as my top two.

Not at all. The 60's were my favorite time for sitcoms! I loved the simplicity and wholesomeness back than!

Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Mr. Ed, Dennis the menace. Great shows.

The only new show I really like is Mike and Molly!

I loved Gilligan's Island, Andy Griffith, Green Acres, and Dennis the Menace. Hazel and Bewitched were good too. The others are kind of mediocre but they're not bad and still watchable, although the majority of my favourite shows are from the 70s and 80s.

I not a kid; but I watch a majority of these above shows. Maybe re-living my childhood. Many I did not have time to watch either or as a kid understood the humor until now.

I was born in 1976 so growing up the only sitcom reruns from the 60's I would watch were Gilligan's Island and The Munsters, to me I guess its because I was more interested with the shows from the 80's and 90's that just seeing something from the 60's feels horribly dated.

The 60s was a great decade for sitcoms, a lot better than today. Family Affair, Gomer Pyle, Andy Griffith, Petticoat Junction, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Patty Duke Show, Bachelor Father, The Munsters, The Addams Family, Hazel: all of them are favorites of mine. I would recommend The Dick Van Dyke Show, while family friendly its humor is said to appeal more to adults. In contrast the only current sitcom in my top 100 is The Middle.

I personally love most of the shows from the 1960's and we try to obtain all of them we can on DVD.

I think we are now living in the worst decade for TV sitcoms.

I'm in the demographic group the networks target and I only have 2 shows at this time that I can stand watching.
