Default AITF reboot

I just read on ewonline.com that Norman Lear is in talks with Sony about doing a re-boot of AITF that will debut next year and will be called ALL IN THE FAMILY 2015 and will probably be about a Latino family. They don't know though if it will be a series or a special.

So, it will be a show about a bigoted middle-aged Latino man? Hmmm....would be curious to see how well that goes over. But I think I would change the name to something else. Like....ALL IN THE LA FAMILIA

If Norman Lear was so desperate to remain relevant, why didn't he put out any good sitcoms in the past 30 years?

Why not a big screen version?

He is not "desperate to remain relevant." Norman Lear made a decision well over 30 years ago to retire from producing and focus on other interests. And he has had plenty other things on his plate every since. He is a very busy man. He has only returned to producing on rare occasion over the years. But it is definitely not something he has pursued vigorously. Norman Lear has a net worth of $700 million. He's also 92 years old and he hardly needs a job. He has achieved everything in his career he ever dreamed of, and more. His legacy is quite secure.

Then he should just let AITF be as it was.

Clearly he doesn't need the money. What other reason would he be doing it if he's not looking for attention again?

There could be a lot of reasons besides "looking for attention again." Maybe it's just fun for him putting a show together. Maybe his wife wants him out of the house for awhile. Maybe a big project like that keeps him energized and younger than his 92 years. Maybe he simply likes the creative process. You're not inside his head to know that he's just trying to get attention.

It will seriously flop! But we all know that it would be politically incorrect and/or racist if we don't watch it. Seriously - leave the classics alone!! So sick of this modern garbage!

They made a "modern" AITF in the nineties starring JJ Evans TV dad I believe and it flopped after maybe four episodes?

Please no. I realize that AITF was itself a "remake" of a British show, but I really cringe whenever there is an attempt to remake or reboot shows that I enjoy.
