I'm currently reading the book on Etan Patz. Am about a 1/4 of the way through.

Are you reading "After Etan" or a different book?
I read After Etan a few years ago and thought it was excellent. I also always thought his first name was pronounced "EE ton" and his last name was pronounced "Pats" but the book explained it was an ethnic name, pronounced "Ayton Paytz". That book was pretty convincing that Jose Antonio Ramos was the perpetrator. The parents won a civil suit against him and he was declared to be responsible for Etan's death. I don't know about this other guy, Pedro Hernandez. He confessed, but nothing connects him to Etan. Ramos was actually acquainted with Etan; he was dating the woman hired by Etan's parents to walk him to school for six weeks during a school bus driver strike. I wonder what the parents think about the more recent suspect. In After Etan, they say that Mr. Patz sent a note to Ramos every year, asking why he killed Etan. |
