Gawd, this woman Rose was dumb. It's not even like she was naïve. She was DUMB. All she ever did was annoy and frustrate me. Thank goodness for Dorothy and Blanche.

She was, as Betty says, "totally naïve"...at first. Sadly, from seasons 5-7, the writers did write her as more dumb than naïve, and IMO these seasons, despite there being some brilliant episodes, were when the writers started sacrificing character truth to go for the cheap laugh and joke. That's why I only own seasons 1-4 on DVD, but I will watch 5-7 on DVD.

When Blanche was spending all her saved up money for a hot tub, she told Rose that she couldn't afford any "useless permit" and she asked Rose to keep her secret about the hot tub. Next thing you know, Rose betrays Blanche for no good reason and calls the permit inspector to tattle. I wanted to STRANGLE Rose for that. She caused so much trouble for Blanche in that episode.

That's just one example. There are COUNTLESS examples of Rose being a dumbass.
