Default Paintings, posters, artwork in apartment

Just in case anyone was wondering about some of the artwork/posters/paintings in the trio's apartment...

Here are my findings:

-Alphonse Mucha's "Feather" to the left of front door

-Mucha's "Spring" by kitchen door in first couple seasons, also above Chrissy's bed in first few seasons

-Mucha's "Autumn" by kitchen door in 4th season

-Mucha's "Zodiac" above telephone in first season. This was later replaced by the unknown blue painting (see below)

-Frank Xavier Leyendecker's "The Flapper" (1922)...also known as the "Life" poster on wall left of window

-Arpad Szenes "Akaba" on wall left of bathroom door

-Edward Hicks "Peaceable Kingdom" on wall left of bathroom door (the painting with animals)

-Jorn Beinkamp's "The Beatles" (1975, Copenhagen, Denmark) hanging over Jack's bed.

-"Wine Guide" poster/plaque on fridge season 2 forward: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1896494...ge-wooden-wall

-"Cooking Terms" poster on fridge in Season 1 (looks like it was one in a series of cooking posters): https://www.etsy.com/listing/2003445...-cooking-terms

Some stuff I'm still looking for/curious about:

-Flowers in a vase painting to the right of front door---maybe a reprod of Monet? Cezanne? Van Gogh? Seems Impressionist

-The blue and white painting over the telephone for most of the series. It's of two (maybe three) women bending down to talk to a seated woman who is dressed in navy blue. I can't find anything on this one.

-The small folk-art painting of a snowy/winter street scene directly above the telephone (under the blue painting described above). Almost reminds me of Pieter Bruegel's (the elder) "Hunters in the Snow," but it's none of his.

Apparently the style of the '20s was very in vogue during the 1970s, hence all the art nouveau at the start of the series. When the show arrived in the 1980s, most of the Mucha artwork disappears. I'm wondering if the unknown paintings around the house were painted by hired hands to imitate Grandma Moses, Monet, etc. If anyone can add anything, please do!

Interesting gathering of all that information, the ones I vividly remember throughout the series are the LIFE flower print and The Beatles one in Jack's bedroom.

I swear that picture to the left of The Beatles one in Jack's bedroom looks like a Yes album cover, but I can't verify that.

Yeah, the picture to the left of Beatles poster looks like some of Yes's 80's album covers that were drawn by Roger Dean. All those prog rock bands had those new agey cover art. The one in Jack's room I can't find, although it looks really familiar.

I'm starting to think some of the paintings were reproductions.

For example, take the painting/wall-hanging of the white cat that is seen only in very early episodes near the kitchen (screenshot attached). It appears to be an imitation.

The original was painted in 1883. It's titled "Tinkle" and the artist is anonymous. Here's a pic: http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73...4014e8cebe.jpg

I've always wanted to get a Beatles poster like the one Jack had, but could never find one.

Here is the only copy for sale I could find in a quick search: http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Beat...work/155018111

There was a copy that just sold on eBay for $100 in an auction. Keep checking there, you may eventually find one.

$499!! Wow, I would have never guessed that poster would be so expensive. Even $100 is up there. At least I know what to type into ebay for a search though. Thanks. I checked ebay before, but you could guess the massive amount of posters that came up when I typed in "Beatles poster."

Just started watching TC in chronological order on the DVD sets.

Though I had seen the episode before (on an old pan & scan TV back in the '80's), in my recent viewing of S02 I noticed - for the first time - the very cool painting (poster) of The Beatles hanging in Jack's bedroom; I believe this is first seen in the aftermath of the party were Mr. Roper gets drunk & passes out. Excellent artwork; it's definitely one of the most interesting pieces of wall art in the show. This also is a reflection of the era; i.e., though I know The Beatles are obviously still popular today, back in the late '70's they were extremely huge. And, at that time, they were still were fresh in many people's minds - given that their heyday had been in the early - late 1960's, and had only broken up in 1970. And, people of the age group that included Jack/Chrissy/Janet would have been kids/teen when they first started getting popular, so the gang would obviously have grown up hearing their music.
