Default I swear I didn't think it was possible for a show that ended in 1991 to

not be on

cable

DVD

youtube

digital TV

unavailable in the trading market

Damm why is this show so obsolete and it ended in the 90's during the era of VCRs? LOL

I with you on this one. I've never seen this show but I've heard great things about it. I wish some company would release it so I can finally see it.

Probably because it is owned by Warner Bros. and they are notorious for pulling their shows from Youtube, especially rarely aired ones like Head of the Class, The Hogan Family, It's a Living and Alice. I have had videos pulled from my channel and had it shut down by them several times now. It's no longer worth the trouble.

I think you're 100% correct about WB. It's impossible to find sellers on sites with copies of "Perfect Strangers", "The Drew Carey Show", & "MADtv". It actually surprised me when I found a "Step by Step" set so easily---but it was not all that good...the theme song and end credits were removed from all episodes except the 1st one.

I definitely would like to see this show. Antenna TV or Encore Classic should pick it up.

I think perhaps it's not released, because it's very very dated. The Cold War was still active in it's first season, and some of the lines in the scripts reflect that sentiment. The references would be lost on younger viewers. Also, it would be difficult to reconcile the fact that some of the students in the advanced class, ie. the Anti-Sweathogs would still be in grade 12 after 5 years.

But then you could say the same thing about every sitcom from the 50's, 60's, 70's, and all those shows from that era also had references pertaining to that time period. So that isn't an excuse for HOTC not to be shown on TV or released on DVD.

I am completely and totally stupefied as well as being at an absolute complete loss for words as to why this hasn't been released on DVD yet in any capacity. A few years back when AOL had its in2tv service a VERY large chunk of the series run was on there. At the height of that service Id say two thirds of it was in there essily. Not only that but it was all the master copies of the episodes too. So we can safely say Warner has the master copies of every episode. I'm still banging my head into the computer desk for not capturing all those episodes for my own collection before they pulled all of it! Stupid move on my part .

All the other series I've wanted in dvd complete have more or less been released with the exception of HOTC. It's the only one left unreleased I'm still waiting on. The last 3, 4, 5 years I keep saying ok this should be the year we finally see it, even if it's just Season 1. And all those years have ended the same way they started-no closer to a release. I'm just utterly speechless at this. The best I've been able to find online is....well, 70 percent of Season 1 plus a few episodes from Season 2. That's the very best I've managed and that's even with looking pretty far underground..good God.

This has to be the year guys it just has to be. I'm hoping like hell either Shout, Warner themselves or Star Vista will do a release-ideally complete series at this point. It'll either be physical DVD, MOD DVD from Warner themselves or it'll get slapped onto iTunes, Netflix, or both. If anyone at all from Warner is reading this: interviews, commentaries and extras would be great but I think a vast majority of us wanting the show would be very happy with just a complete series set containing all the master copy episodes uncut. I'll totally pay for that and I'm betting so will many others as long as it's all there and uncut.

I'll keep digging around for any hope, any info at all guys and will post here if and when I hear something.

I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Watched it when it originally aired, and always caught it whenever it was re ran. Used to pop up on TV a lot years ago.

It was a huge staple on WPWR here in Chicago for many years, especially on weekends. They were still showing it here and there as recently as '97 or '98. But at that point when they still aired it, it was showing up unannounced during slots they needed to fill with something.

I'm still trying to figure this out..far as I know save for maybe one episode there isn't really any major music clearances needed-again as far as I can remember. None of the actors/actresses seem to be against or blocking a release. Every time I have seen them talk about the show its usually very fondly and favorably so that can't be the reason either. The only other thing I can think of is its some weird odd reason on Warner's end. I really haven't seen much of the last season to season and a half of the show. Ironically enough I have a strong idea how it ended..I did see the last part of the multi part final episode but that was so long ago.

I have ioffer and a few other buyinb sites set to email me if a seller does pop outta the woodwork with a copy of the complete series. If Warner still hasn't budged when that happens I'll buy it that way I suppose. I'd really much rather support is officially though. May try posting in the trading section here in one of the already existing threads too for people looking for it and see if I can get anywhere. If not officially I'd rather get it from someone on here as opposed to somewhere like iOffer. C'mon Warner either get it out or tell us why not already good Lord.

I'm pretty certain the the only reason the series hasn't been released is because it's owned by Warner Brothers. If they don't think they can make money off of it, they don't care about releasing it. They figure there isn't a large enough audience and they really don't care about anything beyond profit. The only chance we would have of it coming out would likely be if Shout Factory pays for the rights, which knowing Warner, would be substantial.

Growing Pains was one of the biggest hit sitcoms of the '80's, and you would think all the seasons would be on DVD, but only three of the seven seasons have come out on DVD from Warner Brothers over a very long period of time. Growing Pains is still shown in re-runs on some television stations while Head of the Class has all but vanished. If a show like Growing Pains is still waiting for a full DVD release of all the seasons, then Head of the Class might take forever to come out. If they weren't owned by Warner Brothers, it would probably be a different story.

Incidentally, both shows are my favorite sitcoms of all time. Luckily, many years ago, I was able to acquire almost a full run of Head of the Class episodes and I'm only missing around 5 of the 114 episodes. I got a large portion of the run from Australian television which aired it in re-runs back in the '90's.

Than WB should move there ass and get it on DVD or some channel should put it on over the air tv. I do find it odd that its not on any where but you could have said that for Mr. Belvedere and now its on Antenna TV.
