The other day I was looking over an article about Network TV pilots under development, when I saw Ming-Na's name attached to one project.
Does this mean that she will be leaving ER a second time?

Ugh she better not leave. If she does she'll probably come back. Again. Then leave, and come back, then leave, and come back yet again, and leave, and comeback, and...leave..*walks off*

I haven't heard any rumors...or facts about that. I don't care if she does...I never liked her that much. *coughs*

I did hear somewhere that she was leaving the show. I can't figure out why she came back if she was going to turn around and leave again. Maybe because she was offered this other role.

I guess I should have found the article i was reading before I started this thread.
But, I did find the blurb that was in the AOL TV News section, and here it is: Ming-Na -- Dr. Jing-Mei Chen on "ER" -- will play a woman married to an African-American man, not yet cast. Under her deal for "ER," she has the right to do a pilot. If the project gets picked-up, she will exit "ER" and go ahead with the ABC series. If not, she'll remain with "ER." So, it looks like Ming-Na has a deal to stay or go, if she gets a pilot off the ground. Yeah, good luck with that one Jing-Mei.

I read something awhile back about this on the ER the Website page. Here is what they say, with a recent update:
"Another ER Exit?? Posted: March 6, 2002 @ 2:23 PM C Source: TV Guide Online ER's Ming-Na has been tapped to play the female lead in an as-yet-untitled interracial-couple comedy pilot for ABC, Variety reports. If the show gets picked up, the actress will exit ER. It makes you wonder: Why is everyone so anxious to leave NBC's top-rated drama? Hmm... Update Posted: March 12, 2002 @ 2:06 PM C Source: Chat With Wanda You mentioned someone else is leaving ER. Who? Ming-Na (Chen) will be leaving for good. ABC scooped her up for an as yet untitled comedy about an interracial couple. " Sounds to me from this that it's a done deal that she's leaving, but I don't know for sure. I think it's a little foolish personally. ER is still a top rated drama, and she hasn't been doing anything of note lately except for voice work. Nowadays it seems the chances of a sitcom succeeding are slim to none. I think she should stick with ER for a little while more, hell so many people are already leaving her character would have had the chance to be really fleshed out. But to each their own, I guess....I guess the allure of being the main star of your own show instead of being one of many in a large ensemble cast was too tempting. |

You really can't blame Ming-Na for wanting to leave.
Her character really hasn't been given much to do this year. She was off the show for several weeks because she was fired, then her return was overshadowed by Benton's departure, the continuing saga of Abby and Carter or Abby and Luka, Susan's return, and Greene's continuing domestic problems. Hopefully, she'll be getting more attentition by the end of the season.. |
