Getting free tickets to see a TV show, ever done this? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I like watching Dr. Phil and notice that they offer free tickets to their show taping, and to call a toll free number.

Has anyone ever done this? How long does it take to get tickets? What is the wait time on that? I would think a show like Dr. Phil would have millions of fans and there would be a long backup. I think if I lived in Southern California r. New York, is would be a fun hobby.

Why is it illegal for a show to sell tickets? Seems like they could make a lot of revenue doing this. What is e purpose of this rule?

In 1969 my Cub Scout Troop was invited to be in the Peanut Gallery of The Bozo Show. You should have heard us during the pack meeting (Held at Vendenburg Elementary School in Redford, Michigan) when the invitation was announced. Had this occurred 11 years later the News Headlines would have read Mt. Saint Vandenburg Erupts!

I've done this when I've been in CA. You go to any event or Tv show and when you're outside people that work for the show walk by and tell you what tickets they have and give them to you, or you can write in and get tickets. Of if you're in the area you can go to the studios and get tickets and sometimes for that day. I was at a stuido in CA and I forget what show I had watched. But I went to the box office and asked for tickets for Different Strokes (this was in the 70's). They said Gary was on strike but if I wanted to I could go see a taping of the Jefferson which was being taped now and right across the street. So I did. Tickets for like Oprah were hard to get.

I've never gotten tickets to see a show other than Tonight With Jay Leno.

i went to 2 tapings of the merv griffin show and I also got tickets to see gimmie a break but the studio was overbooked so I did not get in to see it I still have my unused tickets though
