Movie "Leatherface" Arrives October 2017

Here’s Who Will Direct Leatherface! (Exclusive)
by MrDisgusting
October 31, 2014

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre prequel is about to shed some serious gore.

A few weeks back we exclusively reported that Millennium Films had been talking with two sets of directors to get behind the camera for Leatherface, the prequel that would go back before Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic and tell of Leatherface’s teenage years.

We can exclusively confirm this Halloween day that Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the duo behind the slasher masterpiece Inside (À l’intérieur), as well as Livide and the forthcoming Among the Living, will be helming Leatherface for Millienum and Lionsgate.

Millennium Films, who was behind the 2013 Texas Chainsaw 3D, is once again producing with Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman and Carl Mazzacone, for Lionsgate.

Seth M. Sherwood wrote the screenplay.

Ugh. Leatherface as a teenager just sounds silly. The less I know about Leatherface the scarier he is, the more we know, the more human he becomes, the less scary. I don't want to know he wears a mask because he has some skin condition (I'm looking at you TCM remake!). It's the same with Michael Meyers, he was scary when he was just pure evil. Zombie comes along and now he's a troubled brat with a white trash family.
Okay, I'm done.

Leatherface Poster Gives a First Look at the Texas Chainsaw Origin Story
by Max Evry
September 4, 2015

Lionsgate and Millennium Films have revealed the first poster for Leatherface, the next installment in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre legacy.

A prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which will explore the origins of the horror icon in the 1970s, the story will begin with the Leatherface character in his teenage years. He resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities.

The film will mark the eighth overall entry in the franchise, which currently includes, in addition to Tobe Hooper’s original, three sequels, a remake, a prequel to the remake and a modern-day “direct sequel.”

Directed by acclaimed French filmmaking duo Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside, Livid) from a script penned by Seth M. Sherwood, the film stars Stephen Dorff, Vanessa Grasse, Sam Strike and Lili Taylor.

Leatherface is expected for release in the U.S. sometime in 2016.

Prequel Leatherface is Finally Coming in October!
by John Squires
May 12, 2017

What was Leatherface up to as a teenager? We’ll soon find out!

We’ve been waiting for quite some time to hear an update on Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s Leatherface, a prequel to the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre that has been finished for a while now.

When can we expect to see it? All has been so silent on that front that we were beginning to wonder if the day would ever come. Tonight, however, brings good news!

Producer Christa Campbell revealed on Twitter that Leatherface is coming in October! "To all our leatherface fans out there. The movie will be released in October #texaschainsaw @latigrobman #LEATHERFACE"

Oh, shut up, Torgo.

3 years later, I have to say my curiosity has been peeked by this. Especially considering Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury are directing, I've liked their previous films: Inside, Livide, Among The Living.

Besides, it can't be worse than Texas Chainsaw 3D.
