This is one of those shows that "could be good", but isn't in my opinion, basically because of the side characters, notably Owen the son, Christine Ebersole who plays the mother, and the black guy and the middle eastern guy.

Steve, the lead is good, and so is Dan Lauria who plays the father. The only reason I watch the show at all is for the woman who plays the mother whose name is Oh Cha. She is hilarious and has the bitchy Asian/Korean mother thing down. If anything, she is the Fred Sanford of the show, disparaging everyone else, her flighty daughter, the loser bar people, the son.

If I could retool the show, it would be more about the family dynamic and less on the bar. White/Asian relationships are common and should be explored more.
