The fact that Joe was down on his luck with the business and the fact that Rhoda was willing to give her savings to Joe is why Rhoda was one of the best women out there a guy could be married to.
For example, I sure as heck wouldn't picture Janet or Chrissy from "Three's Company" doing something as nice for their husbands were they married. Joe definitely looked like the bad guy in breaking up with Rhoda because it's clear Rhoda really loved Joe and would do anything to keep the marriage going. Most men should be so lucky to have a woman that gave such a damn. |

Like most men of that era, Joe had a hard time talking about his problems which took a toll on their marriage. I think she was better off without him after the way he acted near the end of the marriage.
