TV "The Closer's" Billy Burke To Reprise on "Major Crimes"

Billy Burke To Reprise "Closer" Villain in "Major Crimes" Two-Parter
by Matt Webb Mitovich
October 27, 2014

One of "The Closer‘s" most loathsome creatures will finally appear on TNT’s "Major Crimes" in the slithery flesh, when Billy Burke reprises his role as Phillip Stroh in a wintertime two-parter, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Burke last portrayed the legal lizard/serial rapist/murderer in "The Closer‘s" August 2012 series finale, when Brenda risked her career to prove him guilty of murder.

The character has since been mentioned on the spin-off "Major Crimes" and most notably had his legal fate (seemingly?) sealed by testimony from Captain Sharon Raydor’s ward, former street rat Rusty Beck — though Stroh himself was a no-show at the pre-trial hearing (meaning Burke did not appear on screen).

When Stroh actually resurfaces — in the final two episodes of Season 3, airing Jan. 12 and 19 — he has fired his counsel (sorry, Seven of Nine!) and is now acting as his own attorney. To that end, he wants a new deal, and just may have the leverage to get one.

"Major Crimes" resumes Season 3 on Monday, November 2nd.

First Look: Billy Burke Returns to "Major Crimes" for Two-Part Finale
by Natalie Abrams
Jan 7, 2015

Billy Burke will reprise his role as serial rapist and killer Phillip Stroh in the "Major Crimes" season finale — and EW has the exclusive first look.

In the two-part finale, Stroh returns and demands a new deal from DDA Rios (Nadine Velazquez) in exchange for his cooperation regarding future murders.

But will "Major Crimes" be willing to make a deal after Stroh attempted to murder Rusty (Graham Patrick Martin) and Brenda (Kyra Sedgwick) during "The Closer’s" final season?

Find out when the two-hour finale airs on Monday, Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.

"Major Crimes" Season 6: Billy Burke Set for Encore as Slithery Phillip Stroh
by Matt Webb Mitovich
June 30, 2017

TVLine has learned exclusively that TNT’s "Major Crimes" in Season 6 will bring back Billy Burke as one of the franchise’s most vile and indefatigable villains, serial rapist, serial killer and sometime-lawyer Phillip Stroh.

He most recently appeared in "Major Crimes‘" two-part Season 3 finale, where Stroh, acting as his own attorney, murdered a judge in his chambers and then pulled off a well-orchestrated escape.

Having remained on the lam ever since, the key to finding Rusty’s longtime tormentor will lie in guessing his true motives — and figuring out the mysterious identity of a woman he’s desperate to find.
