One thing that's odd about "Three's Company" to me.... - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

The fact that it wasn't distributed by a big movie studio production company. What I mean is, who growing up remembers seeing the 20th Century Fox searchlights after the "M*A*S*H" credits ended, or the Paramount Red split box after "The Brady Bunch" credits ended?

What's weird to me is that "Three's Company" wasn't distributed by television leg of a big movie studio....

How many hit shows out there weren't the property of Paramount, Columbia, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, or Universal? Seems odd that "Three's Company" wasn't produced by one of these big studios....how did it happen that way?

Do my questions make sense?

That is odd. It was done by DL Taffner Entertainment, who also did its spinoffs The Ropers and Three's A Crowd, as well as Too Close for Comfort. I don't know very much about that company but it must have been a low budget company because I don't know of any other shows that came from them, and some of the sets on their shows looked kind of cheap.

Yeah, I wonder how Don Taffner was able to finance some network sitcoms on his own without needing a big movie studio's help.
