some thing i noticed about the racial 2 parter episode from the last season - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Yeah so Nick at Nite aired the racial 2 parter episode about the black family that are friends of the Keatons that want to move into the neighborhood.

Something I noticed about the 3 characters, they kind of reminded me of characters from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, that actually didn't air until fall 1990 long after Family Ties went off the air.

The dad and mom reminded me of Phil and the mom, I forget her name, and their Harvord student son kind of reminded me of Carlton.

It would be kind of fascinating if the seeds for the idea of the show were planted from these characters.

Anyone else feel the same way?

interesting thought. However I see the "Fresh Prince" essentially a meshing of "Cosby Show" and "Diffrent Strokes".
