Default What Cable Channels on Your System Do You HATE?

Hi,

Note that I am not looking for type of programming carried on a particular channel (for example, We all hate Nick at Nite for editing their shows severly and having such few shows on their schedule now.) What I want to know is, what channels are carried on your cable system that you consider just a total waste of channel space?

For me, there are four, QVC and Valuevision that I wish would be replaced with something more exciting. As you may know, QVC and Valuevision are Home Shopping Network clone channels. We already have HSN and that's enough. I can also do without GAC (Great American Country) cause I hate country music and I don't see what the hoopla is about the Oxygen channel (With the dreaded black bar!!!) on their movies!

We have a great cable system though and if they ever move the great and WONDERFUL best channel in the universe, Game Show Network to analog, then, all faults will be forgotten!!! (You have to upgrade to digital for us to get GSN)

Cool

Can I name more than 5?

At home, we only get basic cable, which gives us about 25 channels. 3 of them are PBS, 4 of them are some type of home shopping network, 4 of them are local access, 4 of them are in a foreign language, 2 of them are religious stations (including PAX), and 1 of them is an extra ABC affiliate. The only decent channels we have are NBC, ABC, CBS, UPN, WB, and a local independant station that doesn't even come in clearly half the time.

At school, we have free cable. It's free because we have a pretty crappy selection of channels to choose from. We have at least 12-15 news, sports, local access, and home-shopping channels total (serious!). We also have LifeTime, PAX, Travel Channel, Weather Channel, and a few other stations that I've programmed my remote control to skip over. I also hate USA network because they dumped Wings reruns!

Oh God - I get PIN. It's awful, isn't it?!
I don't have cable - I have Sky Digital and if you have the full-price Sky Digital package you get tonnes of channels that they don't even advertise in their literature - and they are all a massive waste of channel space. Basically, with Sky Digital, once you get past the kids channels (numbers 601 - 622) everything is really crap. There's a bunch of lame shopping channels and then you start getting into all the wierd stuff like The God Channel and The Dating Channel!

NO! I need my Iron Chef. That show is sooo cool, and everything they cook on there looks so yummy, I just sit there and drool at the screen.

I also like the news channels, most especially Headline News. How could you not like it? It's so convenient, tells you all the big news of the day without all the crap.

And since no one seems to really know what C-SPAN is, C-SPAN is not news, they show Congressional hearings on there. I guess it's kind of news-like, but it's not news. And actually, as boring as C-SPAN is, I'm glad it exists, and even though I don't watch it I'm glad I have it. It's nice that it was set up as a way to bring the general public into the political process, and at least it's non-profit. Look at it this way, at least you can keep an eye on what our Representatives are doing if you wanted to. Without C-SPAN that would be very difficult.

We only get about 30 channels on our cable, because he have basic cable. And the thing is all our news channels are bunched up! These are the channels I don't like.

C-Span
CourtTV
CNN Headline News
Univision (Hablan mucho en Espańol y entiendo un poquito, pero hablan muy rapidos!!!)
CNBC
CNN
FOX News Channel (well, only sometimes. Other times I really like it. "And now around the world in 80 seconds" by Shepard Smith) Does anyone find him boring? Just asking, that's all.

In response to above, the Sheperd Smith report is great. It's fast-paced and very tounge-in-cheek. I love the: "Best news show...*slams hand down* PERIOD!*

Anyway, waste of space?

MTV & MTV2 - How any station has the gall to air such tripe as The Real World and The Osburnes shouldn't even exist.
Comedy Central - Full of unispired trash. With SNL floating away (the early ones that is) the only good thing on it is the occasional good movie (McHale's Navy was the last good one)
Golf Channel - What? No baseball or Soccer channel? Goofs!
The Learning Channel - You don't learn anything any more, except how bad all of their reality shows are!

My favorite stations are: TV Land, Nick at Nite, ABC Family, TNN, Sci-Fi, PAX, The Weather Channel, NASA, ESPN, Gameshow Network, AMC, A&E and of course, my local affliates! Again, those are my favorites! I don't hate them!
