Default Why was Mrs. Garrett never called Edna?

I just realized Mrs. Garrett was never called Edna by Mr. Drummond or the kids, yet the other two housekeepers, Adelaide and Pearl, were always referred to by their first names. I wonder why.

That is strange, all the other ones were called by their first names and not her. Even in other sitcoms , Brady Bunch , Jeffersons, Maude, Hazel . In all those shows they were called Alice, Florence, Florida and Hazel!

Well with the exception of Mrs. Naugatuck from Maude? And Mrs. Garrett, maybe because they had been married and widowed already?

By the way she was a lot more attractive and younger looking on Facts of Life

I think Mrs. Garrett was divorced, not widowed.

Also, I don't think Mr. Drummond called Arnold and Willis' mom Mrs. Jackson, either. If I remember correctly, he referred to her as Lucy Mae in the episode "Memories".

That's true, I remember Mrs. Garrett's ex-husband appearing in one of the early Facts of Life seasons. The Facts girls also call her Mrs. Garrett or Mrs. G, but they called her sister Beverly Ann.

They just showed Adelaide's first appearance on Encore and she says to call her Adelaide, so that explains the difference between her and Mrs. Garrett.
