Wanted: Pride and Prejudice (1967 (or before, US/UK))
Wanted, the adaptations of Pride and Prejudice that came before 1995 & 1980. In particular there is a BBC series from 1967. Episode 5 is online in very low quality but not the rest.
It is known to have circulated at one time on tape. So it's not totally impossible. There were several other versions from the '50s as BBC series or American anthology episodes (including one starring Peter Cushing and one with Patrick Macnee!), but they have all been destroyed (please prove me wrong).  (If anyone wishes to know, amazingly a 1949 version still exists. It's an episode of the anthology series Philco TV Playhouse, S1E17. Available through the Wisconsin Historical Society... if you go there.) |
