"Jeopardy!" Criticized as Sexist for "What Women Want" Category
10/1/14 by Ryan Gajewski What is an ill-advised "Jeopardy!" category? To some critics, the answer was on display during Monday's episode. The venerable quiz show is under fire after a category called "What Women Want" has been slammed as sexist by critics and Twitter users. The category featured questions about tight jeans, Pilates and crossword puzzles, all of which were given as examples of things that women consider priorities. One clue in the category was: "Some help around the house; would it kill you to get out the Bissell Bagless Canister one of these every once in a while?" The answer was a vacuum cleaner. Twitter was abuzz with complaints about the segment, as "Chicago P.D." star Sophia Bush and "The View" co-host Rosie O'Donnell were among the celebs to weigh in. ".@Jeopardy? For a "smart" show, you just got srsly stupid RT @DJRumspringa: ARE YOU SERIOUS @Jeopardy?? pic.twitter.com/LEZcSw8K5A #SexismIsUgly" "I’ll take equal pay for $500." - @Rosie on the @Jeopardy “What Women Want” category. #Jeopardy #TheView" "The Late Show with David Letterman" lampooned the category with its Top Ten list Wednesday. "Jeopardy!" reps did not immediately respond to a request for comment. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...st-what-737518 |

I saw that ep and the women had more knowledge of that category.
Some people just have nothing to do but gripe about everything! Now I have something for my "Celebrity Jeopardy" sketch...which are based upon the SNL sketches...I wonder if Darryl Hammond will bring back his Sean Connery character if Will Ferrel makes a cameo? Mine will have these three contestants... Donald Trump (He tries to fire Alex Trebek) Rosie O'Donnel (Gripes about everything from Nell Carter to Paul McCartney) Sean Connery...hey...it's NOT a "Celebrity Jeopardy" sketch without him! Here are the categories... Potent Potables What Women Want Assassins (Connery misquotes it as "ass ass ins") Famous Donalds U.S. Presidents 4-Letter Words Here's the Final Jeopardy Category... The Year It Is Trumps Answer...Alex Trebek, his wager...You're Fired! O'Donnel's Answer...blank, she refuses to answer and wants Bob Barker Connery's Answer...POOP! Trebek informs him to write a number...he did give him one...#2! |

Perhaps if there had been a "What Men Want" category along with it, then the show could have at least been viewed as equally sexist.
However, I think people should realize that a category like either one of those is playing off of stereotypes of men and women. It doesn't mean it's true for every man and woman alive. I wouldn't care that much about either one really- I mean, it is just a game show. There are so many other more important things in the world to spend energy on- I don't see this "controversy" as being very worthwhile to spend a lot of time on. It's like that saying about how you have to pick your battles. There are much more important ones to fight, in my opinion. |

This is so stupid. Some people really need to get a life...and a sense of humor.
