With the new TV season this past week, I was all excited about the CBS lineup. I realized that 20 years ago I could care less about CBS and was all into Fox. My favorite networks have changed over the years.
Late 70's to Mid 80's- ABC was my favorite growing up with Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company. When that all ended, they continued to have great shows like Who's The Boss and Growing Pains. Mid 80's to Early 90's- NBC had many failures in the early 80's but came from nowhere in the mid 80's to become number one. It all started with The Cosby Show which I never really got into (I think I am in the minority). I loved Family Ties, The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, 227, Night Court, Unsolved Mysteries and many others. Early 90's to Early 2000's- Fox began in my teenage years. There were almost now shows aimed at young people and Fox changed that forever. Fox also showed program that seems risque at the time. I loved The Simpsons, Married With Children, In Living Color, 90210 and Melrose Place. They seemed to have one great show after another. Early 2000's to Today- CBS was known as the old folks network in the 90's and I was young. This all changed in the summer of 2000 with Survivor which is my favorite show ever. This momentum continued with Big Brother, CSI, NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, etc. CBS has had very few failures in the last 10 years. I would love to hear your favorites. |
