Default Roxanne Woodson and Cathy Clowers

These two girls were killed in Tennessee by Joe Alan Shepherd. I have honestly thought that of all of the cases on UM, this one jumped out at me as particularly horrible (they all are horrible though).
I found Roxanne's grandmother's testimony perhaps the most heart-rending I have seen on UM.
I do not know anything of Cathy Clowers though. I do know that Sheperd is now deceased and left behind a wife and a family.

Yeah, I always thought it was strange how the segment barely touched on Cathy. I would be curious to know more biographical information about her as well as how she met Shepherd and the circumstances behind her disappearance and death.

I think Joe Shepard is probably one of the most chilling persons ever profiled on the show...

There does not seem to be much information available on Cathy Clowers, though I can assume that her disappearance was not long before the murder of Roxanne.

She disappeared two years before Roxanne, in 1976. The segment says she was 14, but nothing about if she knew Joe beforehand, how well they knew each other, or why he wasn't suspected before confessing.

I agree, thank God! There were a couple of murdered teenaged girls in London, Ontario, around the time that Joe Sheppard lived there....apparently LE has ruled him out but you never know. He lived in a townhouse in the Pond Mills area of the city (a less than stellar area) with a wife and two kids and he was on welfare most of the time. I don't believe he killed two girls, fled, and then just stopped killing. Sadly, there are probably more victims (unless marriage and children got in the way of him playing out his sick fantasies).

In a way Shepard seems the most cold blooded killer ever shown on UM. The dude killed a 16 year old girl and then buried her in his mother's backyard basically in plain sight...
