People always feel obligated to offer somebody their home even if the person is planning /and has money to stay at a hotel! The person offering maybe secretly hoping the person doesn't accept, and the guest wondering if the feelings will be hurt if they choose the hotel! But if you live in a poor little two bedroom apartment that is cramped already with the people who live there, let the person go to the hotel! It would be different if they had a big house with lots of extra room!

My house used to have two extra rooms. If a guest needed a place to stay, they could easily use any of the extra rooms. That changed when we had family move in temporarily and semi permanently. Now, a guest can sleep on our fold out couch, that is not already being used by two other people.
