Default Grown up Simpson kids

From what I heard, Matt Groening plans to have the Simpson kids grown up, with Bart having a girlfriend. I heard this from an interview with Matt himself. This however is not planned for the series. He so far, is thinking of growing them up in the feature film they will release in theaters in the future. I will go and see it, but I think the success of the Simpsons also rides on the fact that the main characters don't change much.

Cool

I think it would be fun to see the Simpsons kids a bit older.

Fun yes, but it would make the series go downhill.

I've heard that in Season 14 (the next one), there is an episode called Bart vs. Lisa vs. the Third Grade. This might mean that but what about Bart?

Sounds interesting, but will it be during the series run or after it is canceled? If the latter, then it won't be until after the 23rd season.

That would be really awesome! I just wonder if they do it will they still have Nancy Cartwright to provide the voice for Bart or will they get an actual male voice to do his teenage voice. I know that is something always bothers me with the show is whenever they age the kids for future type of episodes that Bart still sounds the same as he did as a kid. I mean, I know that he is voiced by a woman but they have the technology to deepen her voice and make him sound more masculine. That's all I am saying.

Well if Nancy Cartwright pulled off doing a guy's voice for 23 yrs., why stop now? I think it will be interesting to do something like that but I dont think you have to age The Simpsons kids, Bart especially, to have a girlfriend. Didnt they do girlfriend/boyfriend episodes before? Lisa/Nelson. Bart/Rev. Lovejoy's Daughter. Millhouse/That girl that her father sent her to a private school. Hell, even Lisa/Ralph.

Although, if they wanted to age The Simpson kids, thats fine too. If you remember the episode where Lisa looked into her future and she married an english guy. Also, not sure if it was the same episode but Lisa was President of The United States and Bart was a moocher. That episode or episodes were funny.

I get what you are saying and I agree that both Lisa and Bart have had more than their fair share of love interests through the course of the show. However, what my point was about the voice was that even though I know that Nancy Cartwright has done the voice for quite a long time now, was when you have an animated series and they decided to make a movie to where the character is older sometimes they get an actual male actor to do the voice. They did that with Goof Troop. In the series Max Goof was voiced by Dana Hill, but for " A Goofy Movie" and " An Exteremely Goofy Movie" They got Jason Marsden to provide the voice of Max. That is why I was wondering if the rumors were true and Matt Groening was truly intending to age the kids if they were going to get a male actor to do Bart as a teenager. Of course if they still wanted to use Nancy but wanted Bart to sound more ' grown up' they could do what they did for " Lisa's Wedding" they could take use a sound machine and use it to lower her voice so it would sound deeper. On the commentary to the episode, I heard that was what they did to make Bart sound older.
