Exclamation Let's Get FOL Back On The Air!!!

On my website,
http://justthefactsoflife.tripod.com
I've created a page listing contact and feedback info for all the channels that might be a good fit for airing FOL. Please stop by and let your opinion be known. I also have a new poll up about which channel would be best and have added some new greeting cards to the greeting card center including a St. Patrick's Day card.

Please stop by my site and help get the show back on the air!
http://justthefactsoflife.tripod.com

Well, duh, almost forgot, you have to click on "FOL Activism" to get to the new page.

You have some good information and alot of good possible channels that might air FOL. I will email as many as I can. I wish they'd take a look at the list of 80's sitcom boards that are here and take a gander at how many hits the FOL board gets! No other one comes even close! They don't realize how popular it still is. And still, 80's music has (over the last several years) made a come back. Why not 80's shows?

I'll be honest, I want it on long enough to tape every episode. I think maybe having them show all seasons one time would be fair. I can't see them going back to season 1 and showing it over and over for ever. I'll be happy with one time through.

Ok, I just emailed requests to several of the channels you listed. I thought about TBS but they say that their "new series" list is secure through 2004, so they probably won't add another.

Considering FOL is an 80's show, I truly feel that the best channel to go after is TVLAND. I know, I read the other thread about what the Postmaster said. But it makes sense that it should air there, I mean it fits right in! But beggars can't be choosers right?! So I have put in my 2 cents and emailed these folks.

Everyone do this!!!!!!!!!! It took a little time but I wanted to get my point across to them and now I feel good about it! We must never give up hope. A tiny 1/2 hour slot.......I don't care what time it is on! The end result is good for them, more people will be watching!

C'mon guys!!!!! I'll try and think of other ideas that might help......

I totally agree. I wanna be able to tape every single episode. I'll be sooo happy with that. I've already e-mailed a few of those networks. I really hope it works and told them to come to this message board as well.

Has anyone else emailed the networks? I unfortunatly have gotten zero responses. But then again I didn't think I would. As long as they read it.

Everyone take a few moments and act on this. I know it seems hopeless but you know what they say about "strength in numbers" right?

This is just my opinion...

IMO, I think FOL should be aired on a channel everyone can get. As much as I love your ideas for what channels, U2Baby, shouldn't we contact most of all the channels everyone can get and watch their (hopeful) FOL? I mean, personally, I don't get the Disney Channel or Hallmark and I don't think I get Women's Entertainment. Does anyone else agree we should contact TNT, TBS, etc., and see how they work before handling channels we might not all have?

I know this sounds a little weird, but instead of only some of us getting the channel and maybe FOL, shouldn't we all? Just my idea, nothin' much.

80's kid- I definatly see where you are coming from. I did not email all on the list, only the channels which I was sure most people got. I think we should concentrate on maybe N@N and TVLAND. But that's just my opinion.

Default Would you rather have no one air the show at all then?

While I see your points, I don't agree.
Concentrating on TVland and NAN is a waste of time since both channels have made it clear that there is no place for FOL on their schedules. First, with NAN, I think the chances of being added again are zero. Look at what they have always done, they add shows, run them for 6 months or so or until they add another show to their lineup, then it's moved later at night. Then after another 6 months or more, depending on ratings, the show may be moved to TVland or TNN or the contract to air them may run out. What shows besides I Love Lucy were on NAN longer than a year or two? I can't think of one. I Love Lucy is different, it's the sitcom of all sitcoms and it will never leave the air, as it should be. With TVLand, they never air anything for that long either, look at where Charlie's Angels is now? 4AM! And that was supposedly a popular show! Where is A-Team now? That was supposedly popular too. Once they run through all the Love Boats once or twice, that will be the end of that show too. The Nickelodeon networks like to keep ratings up by adding fresh (if you can call 20 year old shows fresh) shows often, not by bringing back a show that they already aired and took off.

I'll see about adding TNT and TBS to the list if I can find suggestion forms or emails. They do air old shows in the middle of the night and daytime, some considerably less popular than FOL, so there's certainly a chance. Thanks for that suggestion.

But the channels I included are the ones people have been talking about on this board and that already air similar programming. Sorry if you don't get all the channels but wouldn't you rather have any channel air the show than none? After all, the channel could air some of the rarer episodes, so we could get those all on tape. With tape trading, this could benefit all of us anyway. Plus, some of these smaller networks could air the uncut version of the shows. Again, benefitting us all.

Hope you can understand my logic.

Yes, I see your logic, but if we push and push and gather info, then anything is possible right!

I have emailed a gal at allyourtv.com and they post cable tv ratings. I asked if she could help in obtaining ratings for certain weeks for N@N and TVLAND. We could research how the ratings were before FOL aired, during and after. I'm willing. If the ratings are strong, we could compile a letter(petition) to them, and to other stations too.

If this gal is willing to help, I'd need help in obtaining dates when FOL aired regularly on N@N and then during any marathon.

If we play our cards right and not give up, maybe they'll agree. We'd also have to decide and agree if a "one time through all seasons" would be enough. Maybe they'd agree to that.

What do you think? I'll update on what the cable ratings gal says when and if I hear from her. Never the less, there will be alot of work to do if we want to make it work. Again, I am willing.

Ok, I guess I'm on a mission now.......:-)

Default I'm In!

That's a great idea you have there Eva. I agree on that "one time through all seasons" thing. Just as long as they like keep it in order and not skip any of the episodes. I'm with ya'!
And 80skid I had that on my mind too. I don't have the Hallmark Channel, but I think my cable provider is gonna add it. But still I don't have it and most of my friends that like FOL don't have it either, so what would be the point on having FOL on TV if not everyone can watch it? I mean it's great for the people that do have the channel and everything, but it'll just be better if everyone saw it. That way we could all talk about the same thing, like what happened on "last night's show" you know?... I don't know about you guys, but I have a strong feeling that we have greater odds asking TNN to air FOL. We'll probably have to wait a while until N@N and TVLand even think of putting FOL back on. Good things come to those who wait and we'll just have to wait and see.
