"No longer a series regular" question - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Whenever we say "No longer a series regular", does this mean that your are officially out of this show forever?

If not, please explain.

From what I understand it, it appears that the character on said comedy or drama is no longer a part of the regular cast but will make sporadic appearances when the story calls for it.

So yeah that character will make fewer appearances.

Even if that character will make fewer appearances, then does that mean that character will be officially out of this show forever afterwards?

All it means is that that actor/character will no longer be on the show every week. They can still come back for guest appearances, special episodes, etc.

So what you are saying that they can still sporadically come back for guest appearances, but not yet officially depart from a show, true or not?
