Default Do you think there's anything dated about this show?

I really don't. This one's held up better than most.

Nope, it was similar to the other NYC shows that wasn't very topical

I agree! Coping with a divorce. A nagging mother. A little sister talking about her dates (or lack of them), . Watching your weight. Looking for apartments and jobs. All the things that were addressed on Rhoda in the 1970's are totally the same things young women are going through in the 2000's!

Yup, just a fun show dealing with everyday life

I also think it helps there's still a connection to the present with Julie Kavner being the voice of Marge Simpson. It feels like she will always be young Brenda Morgenstern to me, even though she's nearly 65. It's rare that there's a show from 40 years ago and there's still someone steadily working that was on the cast and you weren't asking "what the hell happened to them?" And I'm only in my 30s and grew up watching The Simpsons all the time. Brenda Morgenstern is a heck of a lot more important to me than Marge Simpson, even though this show was long gone before I was born.

Anyway, as a sidenote I remember watching one episode of Rhoda and Brenda was on the intercom with Carlton both talking to Rhoda and I just thought it was kind of awesome to hear the voices of Garfield and Marge Simpson over the same intercom. Stuff like that keeps a show from aging. Julie Kavner is the glue linking together the past and present.

YES!!! TOTALLY!!! I didn't even think of that, but Julie Kavner(Brenda) is the voice of Marge Simpson and Carlton the doorman and Garfield are both Lorenzo Music! That is cool how they became popular with fans of different generations!

Lorenzo Music is a mystery! I don't even know what he looks like? He was only famous for his voice. Has anyone out there actually seen Lorenzo Music?

Yes and Lorenzo Music helped create the show. Another thing that makes this show great.

Lorenzo and his wife Henrietta did a short-lived variety show in 1976. I definitely want to see episodes of that! No, they're not on YouTube and I'm sure it's one of those shows where it's going to be nearly impossible to find copies of.

I don't know if I should spoil the mystique of Lorenzo Music's identity, but here's a website with a few photos of him and his wife Henrietta. You can see some pics of him when he was younger. Hey, it's not my fault someone posted the photos online.
