Hayley Atwell To Appear in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Premiere

Agent Carter is coming to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.". Hayley Atwell is set to appear in the season premiere of S.H.I.E.L.D., EW has confirmed.

Details on Atwell’s appearance on the ABC series are being kept under wraps. It’s unclear whether she’ll appear in flashbacks to the ’40s or if she’ll don the old-lady getup like she did in The Winter Soldier.

Regardless, Atwell appearing on the series could be the first bridge we have to "S.H.I.E.L.D.’s" upcoming off-shoot "Agent Carter", which follows Peggy’s plight after Cap’s disappearance.





Atwell first dazzled as the SSR agent and love interest to Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger, before making a brief cameo again in The Winter Soldier, albeit Peggy was much older.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns Sept. 23 at 9 p.m and "Agent Carter" will debut later this year.

She fought the good fight in the MARVEL comics and the Captain America films, now Agent Peggy Carter fights it again on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

The badass heroine, played by Hayley Atwell, will be seen in a 1940s-era flashback kicking off the Sept. 23 season premiere of the ABC series — and TV Guide Magazine has the first look!





Back in the day, Carter was an integral member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. prototype group Strategic Scientific Reserve and her path was similar to that of Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who must now rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. from the ground up after the seismic events of last season.

"Coulson is a big student of history and wants to return to those old ideals of Agent Carter's time," says executive producer Jed Whedon. "He's, like, 'Let's be the S.H.I.E.L.D. we were meant to be!' He wants to do the job right this time."





Atwell, who will star in the 2015 spinoff series "Marvel's Agent Carter", is joined in the flashback by Kenneth Choi and Neal McDonough, playing their Captain America characters Jim Morita and Dum Dum Dugan, respectively.

No word yet if either actor has signed for the "Agent Carter" series.

Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter Returning to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

If last week’s tease of "Agent Carter" wasn’t enough to satiate fans, Marvel has more of Peggy Carter on the way before her own show begins. Marvel announced that Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as agent Carter in the Nov. 18th episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

The episode, titled 'The Things We Bury', will largely revolve around a S.H.I.E.L.D./Hydra showdown, while Ward kidnaps his senator brother, Christian Ward, to revisit the pair’s past.





Still, 'Bury' will make time for a Carter cameo and give viewers another glimpse into what she’s been up to in a post-Captain America world. Marvel is remaining mum on just how exactly she’ll play into the episode’s events, though it’s a safe bet she’ll be as badass she was in her previous appearance this season.

The episode will also include a guest spot from a Marvel-adjacent star, as Lou Ferrigno Jr. will play Agent Hauer in 'Bury'. His father, Lou Ferrigno, the first live-action Hulk, has stayed in the Marvel family, having made a brief appearance in The Incredible Hulk and lent his voice to the green goliath in The Avengers.
