I got out some of my old TV Guides and decided to upload a pic of the full Nielsen ratings for the 1989-90 TV season that TV used to publish (or they not do this anymore?).
This was the season that features 3 then new television shows that are still running today! 1. The Simpson's 2. America's Funniest Home Videos 3. Primetime We get the debut of some successful shows that ran 4 seasons or longer, among them: --Empty Nest --Family Matters --Doogie Howser, M.D --Major Dad --Life Goes On --Rescue 911 --COPS Sadly, this is the was the last year of Newhart, Mr. Belvedere, It's Garry Shandling's Show, 227, My Two Dads and ALF. In the drama category, we have also have the exit of cult favorite Beauty and the Beast (back when CBS was interesting) and long running soap Falcon's Crest. Chicken Soup is heralded by TV Critics as the FLOP OF THE YEAR, ABC debuts Twin Peaks in April and after NBC cancels Baywatch the show (the show becomes a major international hit in syndication). |

I see that special Sunday airing wasn't included for Roseanne, and some sources have Twin Peaks.
If you have ST: TNG average please post it. |

![]() ...You should be able to see it I think. Let me know, if you can't. Also, What Sunday airing of Roseanne do you mean? Also, TV Guide didn't publish any television show in their charts that lasted less than 6 episodes for a single season in their annual Nielsen ratings chart. Twin Peaks didn't premier until April 8th, the TV Guide article (published in July of that year) only gathers Nielsen data from September to April. |

So "Roseanne" finally beat "The Cosby Show" in the 1989-90 season. Quote:
I shame my head every time I want to visit an old TV show or movie on wikipedia and it see it's numbers adjusted either from inaccurate information or some clever ploy. Normally, this wouldn't bother me; but we live in the in age of the Internet and so whatever someone post as false, others will eventually accept as truth and that information will be posted as fact. It's been corrected NOW, but around 8 or 9 months ago I would have sworn that in the wikipedia page of "Mr. Belvedere" it was listed as being in the top ten twice during it's run (and peaking #6). ??? ...Also about a month ago, I also came across an article about a movie (after viewing it on showtime) called, "The Presence". On the WIKI article, it claimed (at the time) that it made $87 million domestically...although it was a fact that it had never been released in theaters in the U.S. Again, this too was incorrect. Fortunately, someone later corrected the article (just viewed it now). But Google searches for Wiki here or IMDB there can spread false information. But, if the TV Movie or Mini-series are different from what your reading to what I am posting; than someone seriously has botched the apple. Do you have #'s on these? Thank you for posting these ratings though! |

I don't have ratings data for Presence. Empty Nest debuted in 1988. |

these numbers prove that Who's the Boss is one of the most underrated shows from the 80's
Loved that show and you can see it always did well in the ratings |
