Default Who else was sad to see Mrs Garrett go?

She was such an integral part of the show that I was very upset when she left. I know she became an even bigger star with her role on facts of life but I just didn't ever feel like the other housekeepers did the role justice. Mrs Garrett was like a motherly figure to those kids which I think they all needed. After all, Kimberley, Willis, and Arnold all lost their mothers. and another thing was I never sensed Pearl or Adelaide had that motherly affect on them. I wish she would have made more guest appearances after she went to facts of life, what do you think?

It would have been good if she stayed.

She was definetly the best house keeper. When she left they tried a fresh approach with Adeaide, when she left I think the character of Pearl tried to copy Mrs Garret.

She should have guest apeared in future episodes other than just The Wedding.

I loved Mrs. Garrett. She was hands down the best housekeeper.

I really thought that it was sad for her to leave, because she was the best of all the housekeepers, but I really couldn't imagine FOL w/out her either.

I was saddened when she left too. At least I haven't seen some type of goodbye episode. It's like she left without warning us. I know on the first episode of FOL she did tell Mr. D that she would be back to work as soon as Eastland found a replacement for her. She did come back and then left again for good. The next time we see her is in a 1984 episode.

Thomas E, Do you mean that Mrs Garrett made another guest appearance before the wedding episodes she was in? If so what episode did she return in? Thanks!

I'm glad she left the show and went to FOL even though I loved her on DS.

Well, I'm actually a little biast, cuase if she hadn't been on FOL, I wouldn't have known about her..(a little pathetic, huh?!) Anyway, I liked Mrs. Garrett better on FOL than on diff'rent STrokes....she was more of a ............serious character on FOL than DS.....I mean, on DS mostly what she did(besides the normal, advice) was make jokes......Don't get me wrong, they were funny, i sitll loved her....but she just wasn't the same Mrs. G............I dunno....at least she was still giving advice.....(That's Mrs. Garrett for ya!NEver goes anywhere without giving someone her advice!)

I think that ThomasE meant that she came back after doing the little stint for the FOL pilot and did a few more eps, but after that i have no idea what he's talking about. And i really never understood the whole thing about how Mrs. G got to Eastland and how all of a sudden one day Adelaid show's up... I dunno if i didn't see the ep or what, but i remember at the end of the FOL pilot mrs. g says that she doesn't want to be the permanent housekeeper and that she wants to stay with the drummond's... and then she did more DS eps and then all of a sudden one day...

POOF!!!

...she's gone! and then she's doing an FOL ep with them all being there and she's promising to come back, then all of a sudden one day...

POOF!!!

...it's season 2 of FOL and Mrs. G's staying.. it really was not a smooth carry along throughout BOTH shows!!!

Toodles!

That was really stupid that they never explained how she left DS and stayed on in FOL.

In the episode that Adelaide joins Mr Drummond is talking on the phone and says "the last housekeeper that your agency sent just left so we need a replacement" and then Adelaide came and got the job.

Adelaide then left without explenation too.

I might not be right but I think Dana volunterely gave up her son to his grandparents when he was about 3 since she had no money to support him.

Kimberly never actually got married in the show- even though she announced her engagement in an episode to a man who never appeared again.
