Default "Deadly Women" on ID

This show is a guilty pleasure of mine; my DVR is set to record it each week whenever new episodes are broadcast. I thought I knew almost all of the notorious female killers but this show continues to surprise me by profiling some lethal ladies I had never heard of before.

Any other fans of this deliciously fun and interesting true-crime series?

I find some of the older cases (from the 1800's - early 1900's interesting)

How did I miss this thread? I love Deadly Women, it in my opinion is the perfect ID show. A blend of horror, satire, kitsch and creep that is the so addicting. First the cases they profile are so interesting and they cover a lot of cases you probably have not heard of from a wide historical perspective. Lynnanne Zager maybe the best female crime narrator on TV today, only Autopsy's Marlene Sanders is better. Then the acting, mostly Austrailians they seemed to have picked off the street and get to agree to do it. While never Emmy worthy there is something about their everyman appearance that gives the show's re-enactments, a voyeuristic quality. Candace Delong's sometimes satirical commentary and Dr. Amatuzio curdling details are wonderfully interwoven into the stories. Then there are the guest commentators/true crime authors Gregg Olsen and M William Phelps are my favs.... I love this show it AWESOME!

Very nice critique! Not much I can add except that I also absolutely LOVE this show. It's downright creepy, and you are spot on about the actors, fantastic!

They feature a lot of crimes I've never heard of, which is pretty disturbing when you think how many women have killed, and can do it quite brutally. I also wonder what's going on down under since quite a bit of the cases took place in Australia. It's like Snapped on bath salts.

My boss was featured on this show. He put a woman who killed her ex-husband and lover away...

I love this show! I just can't believe how many women actually kill.

I LOVE ID TV, Deadly women is interesting!! We have this on TV right now. I like when my hubby watches with me. I must seem like a gem compared to these violent, evil women!

I also like Who the Bleep did I marry and Happily Never after too!

Season 9 debuted a couple of weeks ago and a really neat feature they have added that I really like is that at the end of each segment, they show actual pictures of the women that are profiled.

This is a definite improvement. Some of the actresses they've chosen to portray the Deadly Women in previous years have not resembled the actual murderess at all.

The inclusion of the actual photographs has forced the show to select actresses that more closely resemble those who are being profiled.

That is cool. I watched a few days ago, and it was one I never saw before. So I guess that was a new Season 9! I'll be sure to pay attention at the end next time I watch! (I tend to be up doing things around the house or on the internet as I watch TV) !

Though I haven't caught a lot of season 9, That is a nice feature, I would often google the killer to see what they looked like IRL. Some are S-C-A-R-Y...::shivers::

I didn't mind that the Actresses didn't always "fit" the exact look of the killer. Nor did I mind that if you watch the show a lot sometime's this episode's killer is the next episode's victim. As I said above, what I love about them is their "everywoman/man" appearance and the somewhat amateur acting style that leads to my enjoyment of the show, it makes it seem more real. I hope they never stop producing them in Australia because I think it leads to a wider selection of cases (America,England,Australia and the Commonwealth) .

I'm just wondering though on the episodes I saw Dr. Amatuzio seems to have a reduced role in season 9???

This. Totally. It's got the perfect mix as you said. It's one of my favorite shows on ID, I will watch it over and over. I love Candace DeLong she is my hero (police officer, FBI, RN, etc...) and M William Phelps. Has that John Glatt been on this show too? He's another favorite but he might only been on Evil Twins. I think I'm just confusing him because of the Australia stuff.

The actors are hilarious. I love when they try and do an American southern accent especially. lmao!! There is one actress who has been on at least 3 episodes. She's kind of a bigger girl, not super good looking. I can't remember any of the people she's played, one was a girl who had a baby (and I guess killed it, don't remember exactly) and was upset that she couldn't hang out with her friends as much. She was also one of the friends in the Michele Avila segment. I think she was a friend in a segment about some goth kids too. There's another woman who is older than her but also heavyset and even more unfortunate looking who has been in a few episodes too.

The show happened to be on as I was typing this and now that it just ended I realized it was one I haven't seen yet. Patricia Byers was one of the cases. The new season is On Demand and Ive just started a job where I work on Fri night so I will have to catch them on there. I do like that they show pictures now, I also ended up googling most of those featured on there before to see what they looked like.

So, when is the season premiere for "Deadly Women"? No indication that it has been cancelled on the ID website. The Facebook page suggests it might be this week but looking ahead on my DVR schedule, nothing showing up for new episodes of "Deadly Women" later this week.
