Default Gen-TV's Emmy Wins

Quote:

Breaking News:
Gen-TV Leads Emmy Nominations
---Network has most noms.
Quote:

Earlier this month, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominations for the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Of all television networks, Gen-TV lead the pack with a record-breaking 59 nominations across all categories, including nominations in every major acting, direction, producing (series) race. Below is a breakdown of all the nominees, as well as those of Gen-TV.

---Outstanding Drama Series---

Breaking Bad, AMC

Mad Men, AMC

Game of Thrones, HBO

True Detective, HBO

House of Cards, Netflix

Downton Abbey, PBS

Sisters, Gen-TV Studios (for the fifth year Gen-TV's signature series is nominated. It has been nominated every season since breaking through after it's sophomore season.)

Lead Actor-Drama Series----

Matthew McConaughey, True Detective, HBO

Kevin Spacey, House of Cards, Netflix

Jon Hamm, Mad Men, AMC

Woody Harrelson, True Detective, HBO

Jeff Daniels, The Newsroom, HBO

Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad, AMC

Milo Ventimiglia, Abducted, Gen-TV --- Milo snags his first nomination at the Emmy's for this role. He exited the series at the start of the 2013-2014 season.

Dylan Bruno, Fugitive Recovery, Gen-TV---- Despite lackluster ratings, being cancelled and average reviews; Fugitive Recovery grew to have a lot of love within the industry and Bruno, in particular was given strong praise for a story arch involving his characters attempted recovery from injuries sustained in combat.

Lead Actress-- Drama Series---

Juliana Margulies, The Good Wife, CBS

Claire Danes, Homeland, Showtime

Robin Wright, House of Cards, Netflix

Lizzy Caplan, Masters of Sex, Showtime

Kerry Washington, Scandal, ABC

Maura West, Sisters, Gen-TV --- Coming off a strong season, it is no surprise West snags a nod for "Sisters". She carried the bulk of the seasons well-received hate crimes storyline.

Michelle Williams, American Suburbia, Gen-TV--- Williams snags her thid consecutive nomination for the Gothic inspired sci-fi soap. This was the series final season.

Supporting Actor-Drama Series---

Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad, AMC

Mandy Patinkin, Homeland, Showtime

Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones, HBO

Jim Carter, Downton Abbey, PBS

Jon Voight, Ray Donovan, Showtime

Josh Charles, The Good Wife, CBS

Esai Morales, Sisters, Gen-TV ---A shocking nomination, considering the limited capacity in which he appeared on the series. However the scenes he had were riveting drama.

Guy Pearce, Sisters, Gen-TV --- Universally acclaimed for his strong work as a grieving brother; a religious man gripping with the death of his brother and coming to terms with his religion and how it conflicts with his love of his brother. Stellar reviews all around

William Daniels, Law of Death, Gen-TV --- This is an odd nomination, Daniels appeared in only eight episodes before his character was shockingly killed off.

Supporting Actress- Drama Series---

Christine Branaksi, The Good Wife, CBS

Anna Gunn, Breaking Bad, AMC

Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey, PBS

Joanne Froggatt, Downton Abbey, PBS

Lena Headley, Game of Thrones, HBO

Christina Hendricks, Mad Men, AMC

Lisa Nicole Carson, Sisters, Gen-TV--- This is the first time Carson has submitted in Supporting, typically she submitted in Lead along w/her co-stars.

Sharon Stone, The Family Man, Gen-TV

Vanessa Redgrave, Sisters, Gen-TV

--- Redgraves nomination is no shocker, her performance as a religious mother coming to grips with the violent death of her gay son was riveting to watch; received near unanimous praise and the best reviews this show ever saw. Stone's nomination is nearly a yearly event at this point.

Directing-- Drama Series---

Broadwalk Empire, HBO

Breaking Bad, AMC

Downton Abbey, PBS

Game of Thrones, HBO

True Detective, HBO

House of Cards, Netflix

Sisters, Gen-TV

Law of Death, Gen-TV

The Killing Diaries, Gen-TV

Murder.com, Gen-TV

---Holy, Quartet, Batman! Gen-TV snags four nominations in Directing. Considering how acclaimed "Sisters" was last season, it's no surprise to see the series here. Nor is it a surprise to see "Law of Death" mentioned here; as it's the highest-rated new series of the season; one of the best reviewed programs of the year; and generally well liked in the industry. A big surprise is the stunning nomination of "Murder.com", which is generally being considered a nomination, more for the director himself, and not a reflection of the series he works on.

Outstanding Writing- Drama Series (nominated for the individual writers)---

Breaking Bad, AMC (Moira Walley-Beckett)

Breaking Bad, AMC (Vince Gilligan)

Game of Thrones, HBO (David Beinoff, D.B. Weiss)

House of Cards, Netflix (Beau Willmon)

True Detective, HBO (Nic Pizzolatto)

Sisters, Gen-TV (Amy Lippman, Christopher Keyser)

Sisters, Gen-TV (Christopher Keyser, Gail Adams)--- Sisters received nominations for two episodes from this past season. The first episode written by Lippman and Keyser was the season five finale in which Jerry and Scott are killed. It featured the Bishop family being notified of their deaths and how the family reacted in that moment. The second episode, written by Keyser and Associate Producer Adams, was a stand-alone episode focusing on the explosive moments during Emily and Lawrence's divorce trial when Emily testifies about the abuse she endured during their marriage.

Fugitive Recovery, Gen-TV (David B. Smith)
--- Fugitive Recovery is nominated for an episode focused on Dante's C.I. past coming back to haunt him.

American Suburbia, Gen-TV (Noah Reardon; Brian Lonze) --- This nomination is for the series finale.

Guest Actor- Drama Series---

Paul Giamatti, Downton Abbey, PBS

Reg E. Cathey, House of Cards, Netflix

Robert Morse, Mad Men, AMC

Beau Bridges, Masters of Sex, Showtime

Joe Morton, Scandal, ABC

Dylan Baker, The Good Wife, CBS

Stanley Tucci, American Suburbia, Gen-TV --- a nice nod considering it was the series final season.

Rupert Everett, Sisters, Gen-TV

Jere Burns, Sisters, Gen-TV
--- It is touching to see these two nominated for their guest appearance in the season six opener that featured the flashbacks of their death; and explained how the trial proceeded.

Guest Actress- Drama Series---

Diana Rigg, Game of Thrones, HBO

Kate Mara, House of Cards, Netflix

Allison Janney, Masters of Sex, Showtime

Kate Burton, Scandal, ABC

Margo Martindale, The Americans, FX

Jane Fonda, The Newsroom, HBO

Ming Na Weng, Sisters, Gen-TV ---- Ming had a strong season, as her character a therapist provided counselling for the majority of the main characters following the violent deaths of Scott and Jerry. She received strong notices for her stoic, guarded characters awe-inspiring moments when she let down her guard and let her patients pain into her soul.

Frances Conroy, Law of Death, Gen-TV----- This one-off appearance featured her character as a potential client wishing to book her funeral after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

Camryn Manheim, Law of Death, Gen-TV ---- "The Family Man" co-star did a guest appearance on "Law of Death" (as a different character); playing a neurotic single woman afraid she'll die alone; who crashes memorial services looking for a mate.

Betty White, Law of Death, Gen-TV ---- White guest starred in this nominated episode as a widow attending the funeral of her fourth husband, who the funeral home staff suspects may be a black widow.

Stana Katic, Law of Death, Gen-TV --- This nomination is for an episode featuring the "Castle" star playing a woman discovers she and her husband both have terminal AIDS and will be dead within weeks.

Comedy Series----

Louie, FX

Modern Family, ABC

VEEP, HBO

Orange Is The New Black, Netflix

Silicon Valley, HBO

The Big Bang Theory, CBS

Molly Says, Gen-TV

I Said So, Gen-TV --- Gen-TV snags nominations for two freshmen series; "Molly Says" a absurdist comedy starring Molly Shannon became a viewer favorite fairly quickly and throughout it's first season earned a strong critical reception. Ratings emerged strong in the middle of the season. "I Said So" starring Sigourney Weaver and Isla Fisher debuted to massive ratings, strong press and has continued to build all season.

Lead Actor- Comedy

Ricky Gervais, Derek, Netflix

Matt LeBlanc, Episodes, Showtime

Don Cheadel, House of Lies, Showtime

Louie C.K., Louie, FX

Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory, CBS

William H. Macy, Shameless, Showtime

Will Forte, Psycho Ex-Girlfriends, Gen-TV

Josh Cooke, Better with You, Gen-TV

Jake Lacey, Better Without You, Gen-TV
---- Gen-TV nabs nominations for Will Forte in the mildly popular "Psycho Ex-Girlfriends"; while Cooke grabs a nod for the final season of BWY and Lacey for the first and only season of its spin-off.

Lead Actress- Comedy---

Lena Dunham, Girls, HBO

Melissa McCarthy, Mike & Molly, CBS

Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie, Showtime

Taylor Schilling, Orange Is The New Black, Netflix

Amy Poheler, Parks & Recreation, NBC

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Veep, HBO

Molly Shannon, Molly Says, Gen-TV

Sigourney Weaver, I Said So, Gen-TV

Soliel Moon Frye, Over My Head, Gen-TV
--- It's three nods for Gen-TV. Shannon gets in for her freshmen comedy; while Weaver gets a nod for her strong performance; and Frye continues her string of nominations.

Supporting Actor- Comedy----

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Modern Family, ABC

Andre Braugher, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, FOX

Adam Driver, Girls, HBO

Ty Burrell, Modern Family, ABC

Fred Armisen, Portlandia, IFC

Tony Hale, Veep, HBO

Rider Strong, Revolving Door, Gen-TV

Mark Derwin, Surviving Mom, Gen-TV
--- Two very surprising nominations here. Strong had a mildly strong arch involving his character "coming out", but it was a stand-alone episode and wasn't developed further than that. Derwin's nod is inexplicable, and really has little merit.

Supporting Actress- Comedy----

Julie Bowen, Modern Family, ABC

Allison Janney, Mom, CBS

Kate Mulgrew, Orange Is The New Black, Netflix

Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live, NBC

Mayim Bialik, The Big Bang Theory, CBS

Anna Chumskly, VEEP, HBO

Debra Jo Rupp, Better with You, Gen-TV

Jane Fonda, Surviving Mom, Gen-TV--- Rupp scores a nod for the final season of BWY while Fonda scores a nod for her work as a wacko, hyper mother in law.

Directing- Comedy Series (Individual Nominees)---

Glee, Fox (Paris Barclay)

Episodes, Showtime (Iain B. MacDonald)

Louie, Fx (Louie C.K.)

Modern Family, ABC (Gail Mancuso)

Orange Is The New Black, Netflix (Jodie Foster)

Silicon Valley, HBO (Mike Judge)

Surviving Mom, Gen-TV (Jane Fonda; Eve S. Mercer; James Levett)

I Said So, Gen-TV (Patricia Morton, Katrina Bishop-Wry; Brian Lonze)

Molly Says (Molly Shannon, Lorne Michaels)
---- Surviving Mom is nominated for an episode Jane Fonda co-wrote with Eve S. Mercer and James Levett, two of the series associate producers. The episode featured Fonda's character dealing with the issue of mortality as the last of her friends from "the old neighborhood" passes away. I Said So is nominated for it's pilot episode; while Molly Says submitted it's season finale.

Guest Actor- Comedy----

Nathan Lane, Modern Family, ABC

Steve Buscemi, Portlandia, IFC

Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live, NBC

Louie C.K., Saturday Night Live, NBC

Bob Newhart, The Big Bang Theory, CBS

Gary Cole, Veep, HBO

Neil Patrick Harris, Over My Head, Gen-TV --- Harris is nominated in guest this year; having appeared in too few episodes to qualify for Supporting. He joined the cast following the finale of "How I Met Your Mother" in May.

Kurt Fuller, Better Without You, Gen-TV--- Nominated for his guest arch on the Better With You Spin-off. His character is featured here newly married to a younger woman.

Guest Actress-Comedy----

Nathasha Leyonne, Orange Is The New Black, Netflix

Uzo Abuba, Orange Is The New Black, Netflix

Laverne Cox, Orange Is the New Black, Netflix

Tina Fey, Saturday Night Live, NBC

Melissa McCarthy, Saturday Night Live, NBC

Joan Cusack, Shameless, Showtime

Rosie O'Donnell, Over My Head, Gen-TV

Emma Thompson, Over My Head, Gen-TV
--- O'Donnell and Thompson are both nominated for playing potential "nanny" candidates in separate episodes of the series.

Martha Stewart, I Said So, Gen-TV--- Stewart played a fictionalized version of herself on the series, a friend of Sigourney Weaver's character.

Jackie Harry, Brand New World, Gen-TV

Marla Gibbs, Brand New World, Gen-TV
--- Both Harry and Gibbs guest-starred on the same episode of the series; in a dream sequence in which the character played by Holly Robinson Peete dreams she is in an episode of "227".

Despite leading the pack among nominees, Gen-TV went home with precious few awards at last nights 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The network won only five trophies at the ceremony, getting bested in most major categories. Here is the breakdown of what Gen-TV managed to win.

Gen-TV's "Sisters" scored a win in "Supporting Actor-Drama" for Guy Pearce, who played a priest coming to terms with the death of his gay brother in a hate crime. He defeated Aaron Paul, Mandy Patinkin, Peter Dinklage, Jon Voight, Josh Charles, Jim Carter and William Daniels (Gen-TV's Law of Death) and Easi Morales (Gen-TV's Sisters).

In "Writing-Drama Series", Gen-TV is part of a tie, with "Sisters" winning the award; along with "Breaking Bad" from AMC. Both series were critically acclaimed and were among the most-watched broadcasts of the season.

Gen-TV was snubbed across the board in the comedy categories; and had no contenders in Reality categories. Surprisingly, even their acclaimed movies of the week went home empty handed.

In the technical categories, Gen-TV fared somewhat better, garnering 5 trophies, in the following areas:

"Outstanding Hairstyling for a Comedy Series":

---Over My Head

"Outstanding Main Title Design":

---Sisters

"Outstanding Multi-Camera Editing for a Comedy Series"

---Molly Says

"Outstanding Single Camera Editing for a Drama Series"
-----American Suburbia

"Outstanding Promotional Commercial--Institutional"

---"Three Episodes Left Til Finale", "Sisters"

Default Gen-TV Ratings Report

Quote:

Gen-TV Ratings Report:

Sunday, August 10- Saturday, August 16, 2014:

EDITORS NOTE: Gen-TV was in reruns from August 5-9th until the new schedule took effect.

Sunday, August 10th:

The first night of Gen-TV's August schedule took effect, and seems to have had a positive impact on the night. Overall numbers were up over 80% week to week (over the last week of original episodes airing). "Beverly Hills, 90210" continues to perform well, thought, new series "The Divorcees Handbook" actually out-performed it in demos by nearly 20%. "Medical University" adjusted well to it's new night, performing on-par with it's previous airing.

8pm: Medical University (New): 20.8/4.5 18-49

9pm: The Divorcee's Hadnbook (New, Series Premiere): 16.9/5.5 18-49

10pm: Beverly Hills, 90210 (New): 22.3/4.4 18-49
------------------------------

Monday, August 11th:

Gen-TV had a strong night overall; despite "I Dream of Johnny" having an inexplicable weak showing. The pairing of "Sisters" with encores of "The Mallory's of Jefferson County" was a stroke of genius and helped the network place #1 in demos and #1 in total viewers.

8pm: Brand New World (New! Final 7 Episodes!): 18.4 million/4.8 18-49

830pm: I Dream of Johnny (New): 8.3/2.8 18-49

9pm: Sisters (New): 39.5/7.4 18-49

10: The Mallory's Of Jefferson County (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

---------------------

Tuesday, August 12th:

Gen-TV easily skated to #1 across demos and total viewers on Tuesday. This was due to the combination dominant shows "Over My Head", "The Mallory's of Jefferson County" and "Detective Mom" all airing on one night. All shows performed at their very best and exceeded previous week numbers.

8pm: Over My Head (New): 34.8/6.8 18-49

830: Detective Mom (New): 20.7 million/7.4 18-49

9: Molly Says (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

930: The People Next Door (New! Final Episodes!): 15.6 million/5.2

10: The Mallory's of Jefferson County (New): 127.9 million/60.2 18-49

--------------------------------------

Wednesday, August 13th:

Gen-TV finished #2 in demos and #4 in total viewers. "The Ghost of Us" delivered the strongest numbers on the network Wednesday night, while "Turned Around" was defeated in every way; placing #8 for the evening.

8pm: I Said So (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

830: The Ghost of Us (New): 19.5/4.5 18-49

9pm: Turned Around (New): 12.3/3.4 18-49

930: Inside Out (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

10: The Law of Death (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

-------------------------

Thursday, August 14th:

Gen-TV Thursday was all-new and performed far better than expected. Gen-TV placed #2 in demos, #2 in total viewers. "The Lohans" despite critical scorn performed admirably, providing a nice boost to it's lead-out "The Executioners". Series debut of "Deconstructing Mills" however was a bust, scoring under 10 million viewers and a sad 3.2 in demos.

8pm: The Lohans (New, Series Premiere): 16.8/4.8 18-49

9pm: The Executioners (New): 17.4/4.8 18-49

10: Deconstructing Mills (New, Series Premiere!): 9.3/3.2 18-49

----------------------

Friday, August 15th:

Gen-TV's all-new Friday got off to a bang with the season premiere of "Interviews w/Sandra Bernhardt" and an all-new installment of "Mysteries & Melodramas". Gen-TV finished the night at #1 across key demos and total viewers.

8pm: Interviews w/Sandra Bernhardt (New): 20.3/6.2 18-49

9pm: Mysteries & Melodramas (Movie of the Week) (New):

Reunion '87 (Part 1): 27.8 million/10.8 18-49

---------------------

Saturday, August 16th:

Gen-TV aired all reruns on Saturday night. Thus ratings are not being published.

EDITORS NOTE:

All "Mysteries & Melodrama's" airdates have been pushed back one-week.

Gen-TV Ratings Report:

Sunday, August 17- Sunday, August 24, 2014:

Sunday, August 17:

The second week of Gen-TV Sunday schedule lived up to it's potential. All series showed tremendous growth over last week. "Medical University" shoots up 40% weekly in total viewers and increases it's demos by 8%. Gen-TV manages to finish #1 across demos and total viewers. "The Divorcee's Handbook" shows steady performance week to week, with a 14% in demos and solid retention over last week in total viewers. However it is freshmen hit "Beverly Hills, 90210" that shows the most growth.

8pm: Medical University (New): 29.12/4.8 18-49

9pm: The Divorcee's Handbook (New): 22.3/6.2 18-49

10pm: Beverly Hills, 90210 (New): 35.6/6.4 18-49
--------

Monday, August 18:

Gen-TV had a strong; but not dominant night on Monday. They finished #3 in demos and #2 in total viewers.

8pm: Brand New World (New! Final 6 Episodes!): 17.4 million/3.8 18-49

830pm: I Dream of Johnny (New): 8.1/2.2 18-49

9pm: Sisters (New): 40.1/6.8 18-49

10: The Mallory's Of Jefferson County (Rerun): Ratings Not Available
----------------------

Tuesday, August 19:

Not shockingly, Gen-TV was #1 in demos, #1 in total viewers. All series shows positive retention over previous week. "The Mallory's of Jefferson County" once again leads all other program in demos and viewers.

8pm: Over My Head (New): 34.9/7.0 18-49

830: Detective Mom (New): 20.2 million/7.3 18-49

9: Molly Says (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

930: The People Next Door (New! Final Episodes!): 14.5 million/5.1

10: The Mallory's of Jefferson County (New): 145.8 million/50.3 18-49
---------------------

Wednesday, August 20:

Gen-TV finished #3 in demos, #5 in total viewers on Wednesday night. "The Ghost of Us" shows diminished returns over last week; while "Turned Around" drops in demos. Not a good sign.

8pm: I Said So (Rerun): Ratings Not Available

830: The Ghost of Us (New): 18.1/3.1 18-49

9pm: Turned Around (New): 9.4/2.5 18-49

10: The Law of Death (Rerun): Ratings Not Available
----------------------

Thursday, August 21:

Gen-TV has a surprise hit on it's hands in "The Lohans" which exceeded all expectations; while holding up a otherwise average night. "The Lohans" is only Thursday show (on Gen-TV) to increase over last week.

8pm: The Lohans (New): 17.2/4.8 18-49

9pm: The Executioners (New): 16.24/3.4 18-49

8pm: Interviews w/Sandra Bernhardt (New): 22.5/6.5 18-49

9pm: Mysteries & Melodramas (Movie of the Week) (New):

Reunion '87 (Part 2): 30.5 million/11.8 18-49
----------------------------

Saturday, August 23:

Due to only airing reruns, Gen-TV prefers not to publish the ratings.

--------------------

Sunday, August, 24:

The third week of Gen-TV Sunday schedule lived up to it's potential. All series showed tremendous growth over last week. Once again "Beverly Hills, 90210" shows shocking growth; and all series show great retention. Gen-TV is #2 in total viewers; #1 in demos.

8pm: Medical University (New): 30.8/4.5 18-49

9pm: The Divorcee's Handbook (New): 23.1/6.5 18-49

10pm: Beverly Hills, 90210 (New): 34.8/6.7 18-49

Default Gen-TV Pilots Updates

Quote:

Originally Posted: 8/21/2014 at 8:33pm:

Gen-TV has ordered a massive amount of pilots as well as what they are calling "pilot-esque presentations" (or shorter, more condensed presentations of what a potential series may be like). Over 60 pilots and presentations were ordered today by Amanda Green and Doug Bartell, it seems Green is taking a hands on approach to dealing with programming... Here is a rundown of some that seem the most promising, and some that have "what were they thinking?" written all over them:

All of these are contending for a spot on the networks schedule. Some of them could for development reasons air as soon as this fall.

Drama:

Field of Lilly-- Gen-TV has ordered a 15-minuet presentation for a potential series centered around "Two women, from vastly different backgrounds, who both happened to be named Lilly, and who on the same day in different areas of New York City are diagnosed with breast cancer." "The program would aim to showcase the extremely different treatment they get from the medical community; as well as the extremely similar emotional tolls they undertake."

The Two Mrs. Smith's":--- Gen-TV has ordered a pilot for a one-hour drama about "the complicated and often-times trying relationship between the current Mrs. Smith and her predecessor, twenty years older, and the strange bond that is created between wife and ex-wife."

The Scent of War--- Gen-TV has ordered a pilot for a one-hour drama series that is described as "a non-sentimental, engrossing and realistic look at the impact and result that war has on soldiers returning home." Gen-TV's network notes indicated "This series would be intended for a 10pm or 11pm audience and would be a graphic depiction of the impact; both emotional and psychically of war." "It would not be for the light of heart." This series would clearly mark a change of tone for Gen-TV, whose series have tended more towards soapy and melodramatic; however, it should be known that they have aired shows with similar themes before; and in fact one such program "Deployment" is on the Fall schedule now.

Changing Tides-- Gen-TV has ordered a 20-minuet presentation for a high-concept series "centered on the changing tides between two long-time friends who after 20 years as best friends realize they've grown apart, and how the decision to essentially end their friendship changes not only their world but the lives of their spouses, children, co-workers and other closely related people." "It is a story of two women who met as young adults and maintained a friendship for over 20 years; until they reached an impasse and realized they have gone as far as they together, and need to be different people." Not much is known beyond this concept, but insiders tell us that "It is a high priority for Amanda Green, and is based on a concept she created herself."

We, The Jury--- This decidedly less high concept series would be a standard crime procedural set inside the jury room instead of the courtroom. Gen-TV describes it as "The perfect showcase for show stopping acting. This crime series would focus solely on the action that happens inside the jury room; and sequester house as jury members deal with, react to and come to terms with the impact of making life changing decisions in high profile crime cases." According to Gen-TV notes the series would take place in New York City, and would focus on different characters each week, different cases each week and would be a showcase for actors; with high profile guest stars each week. Some action from the actual court room would be shown, but the majority of the story would come from the jury room and how they reach their decision.

“The Crusader”--- Gen-TV has ordered a pilot for a potential series from Joss Whedon (Buffy, The Vampire Slayer). Not much is known about the script. A press statement from Gen-TV says “Gen-TV is happy to partner with Joss Whedon, to find out what happens when one heroic girl stands up to a world void of goodness and demands the return of humanity.” Insiders close to the project claim it is based on a comic book from Norway and that “the backstory is very dark, very dark” and “includes extremely graphic content. It would be a massive departure for Gen-TV.” The main character we are told in the comic book is a 14 year old girl, but our insiders say the TV script ages the character to at least 19 or 20 to make the story more believable and to give writers more leeway with the material. Latest reports on casting indicate that producers will seek an actress at least 22-25 for the role, allowing for a more graphic depiction on-screen. Our sources confirm that “Both Amanda Green and Doug Bartell are pushing for this project to make the cut and hope the pilot is flawless.”

“After The Verdict (working title)”: Gen-TV has ordered a pilot for yet another legal drama; this one focusing on material often ignored in legal shows. What happens after the verdict is read. Gen-TV’s press statement describes the pilot as “A real life depiction of what happens to defendants, prosecutors, defense attorneys, plaintiffs and others related to a criminal case… after the verdict of guilty or not guilty has been read.” “It will showcase the effects a high profile trial has on all parties involved; and will employ a unique strategy of flashbacks, in-trial evidence and other tricks to highlight what occurred in the months prior during the trial.” Gen-TV has hired David Milch (Deadwood, NYPD BLUE) to consult on the script, but insiders say that Gen-TV’s very own Davis March (Gen-TV’s The Killing Diaries, Gen-TV’s One of These Days) will be responsible for the day to day operations should it go to series.

“Love, Lust & The Law” (working title): Another legal script has made it’s way onto Gen-TV’s roster. This one focuses on “crimes of passion, love, lust and heat. All episodes would focus “love, marriage or divorce gone wrong, so wrong it turns into a crime scene. Set in the capital city of lust (Savannah, Georgia), this series would use a procedural approach to love turned into crime and would focus on murders, rapes, robberies, etc. committed by loved ones to loved one’s; or as an act or revenge against a former loved ones. (example: the currently circulating pilot would focus on a high profile divorce case turned murder). Steven Bocho wrote the first draft of the pilot, but apparently Gen-TV has passed on it and a new draft has been commissioned from Rod Lurie (Straw Dogs, Commander In Chief).

"Something My Lover Said”: This romantic/legal drama would focus on the on-going trial of a world famous actor/writer/entrepreneur and notorious ladies man whose decision to publish a tell-all book sends shockwaves and terror throughout the lives of his former lovers. Action would take place in the courtoom as each witness for and against the publishing of the book testifies and gives their account of what happens; and is asked about what he wrote in the book. Flashbacks galore would be included.

One Time Only”: Another steamy romantic drama. This one takes an entirely new twsit on the genre and focuses on the complications and moral confusion that happens when a one-night stand between a male hustler and his married client turns into an all-out romance; and she decides to divorce her husband, causing havoc everywhere.

"John”: This drama pilot also has a steamy twist and involve a male hustler. This series focuses exclusively on the day to day life of “John”, a male hustler being interviewed for a reality series and his daily encounters and the circumstances the brought him to his current life.

Comedy:

“Into The Wild”: This proposed comedy is described as a traditional family sitcom. All that is known of the premise is that it involves a newly married couples whose bliss is shattered when; the husbands parents move into the in-law apartment of their home. The husbands last name is Wild. Gen-TV has hired “Chelsea Lately” regular Jeff “Jiffy” Wild to write and star in the program; on a concept that came out of a brainstroming session Gen-TV Executives had.

“The Gods of Morality” (working title)": This proposed comedy from writer/producer Diane English (Gen-TV’s Doctor/Patient; Murphy Brown) would focus on “a satricial, humorous look at modern day religion and politics and how the two often interwine. It would focus on a well-meaning, but niave senator from Idaho who accidently sets off a firestrom when he misinterprets a piece of legisltaure and unknowingly endorses a law banning all religious discussion or displays in public.” Gen-TV’s Amanda Green says of the proposed series “Diane English has crafted a pilot script filled with spot-on satire of politics, religion and the current state of culture in America. She has created something impressive here.” This pilot which ended up at Gen-TV after a bidding war between three other networks is considered “very high priority” for the network. Our notes indicate that the bidding war was between Gen-TV, HBO and NBC.

“Left and Right”(working title): Another comedy with some political elements. This pilot focuses on a highly successful liberal senator from New York who makes shockwaves when she announces her engagement to her recent rival in a highly debated senate race; a right-wing politican from Kentucky who seemingly is against everything she stands for. The comedy would come from the daily strife of living with somebody so diamterically opposed to everything you stand for.

"The Escape”:This potential comedy is considered “an off-beat, fish out of water” story about a 34 year old Amish man who is accidentlly stranded in modern day, big city Pennsylvania and must adjust to life in an entirely new world.

“Second Home” (working title): This potential comedy would focus on a twenty-one year old guy named Steve who finally moves out of his parents suburban home and into his first big city apartment after getting his first full-time job in the legal department of a big chain department store. The story would focus on the culture clash of a subruban, spoiled kid finally entering adulthood and having to fend for himself. Pilot of from David Caspe (Gen-TV’s Revolving Door, Happy Endings).

Update on Gen-TV Pilots:

Just about a week ago, Gen-TV ordered a massive amount of pilots to contend for spots on the networks schedule. And today, Gen-TV's Amanda Green confirms that four of these pilots have been picked up; effective today.

The network has given a series order to the cancer-themed drama "Field of Lily", ordering 7-episodes of the series, for a test run sometime this fall. Doug Bartell, Vice President of Gen-TV says "the script and pilot presentation were both flawless; and we are sold that this series can serve a vital service by highlighting and educating about cancer issues." "We have faith in the creative team behind this show and are convinced it belongs on our schedule."

Also getting a series order is drama "We, The Jury", which is getting a 10-episode order. Gen-TV also confirms that they have hired Dick Wolf Productions to produce the drama; and that they have hired Jennifer Dante-Travis and Carl T. Toms, to serve as showrunners (Executive Producers). Dante-Travis and Toms both recently departed their roles as staff writers on "Detroit Homicide" after two seasons; and Dante-Travis previously served as a supervising producer on Gen-TV's "L.A. Real Estate".

The third series getting a pick-up today is the comedy "Into The Wild"; which is a "traditional family comedy". "Chelsea Lately" panelist Jeff "Jiffy" Wild will star in, Co-Executive Produce and write the comedy. It is being produced by Chelsea Handler's Borderline Amazing Productions company; and she will also serve as a Executive Producer and writer on the series. This series has gotten a 13-episode order.

Lastly, the network has also picked up the drama series "The Two Mrs. Smiths", a soapy melodrama about the relationship between a man's ex-wife and his current, younger trophy wife. This series has gotten a 10-episode order. 'Desperate Housewives" Stephanie Hagen will serve as Executive Producer along with former Housewives producer Alexandra Cunningham, who most recently served as a Producer on Gen-TV's "American Suburbia".

Gen-TV orders multiples spin-offs

In a move that is sure to look like a desperate ploy to increase ratings and extend valuable franchises beyond their natural shelf lives, Gen-TV today ordered pilots for Six potential spin-offs from currently running series. Keep in mind these are just pilots and its possible none of them will ever air. Here is the rundown on the ordered scripts.

----Real Estate: New York----- This potential spin-off of "L.A. Real Estate" would focus on the real estate experts that populate the New York high-end/luxury real estate market. It would weave all the intrigue, suspense and high quality romance of it's parent show, but in a more East coast way. Alexandra Cunningham (L.A. Real Estate; American Suburbia) is being tapped to write the pilot. Pilot is being eyed as a potential vehicle for Jennifer Love Hewitt to star in.

----Boston Homicide----- This possible spin-off would come from "Detroit Homicide" and would focus on a homicide unit in Boston, Mass. It is being developed by Erica Messer (Detroit Homicide; Criminal Minds). Jason O'Mara is being sought-after for a lead role; but this is premature at the current time.

-----Life On The Other Side--- This wholly unexpected, but sure to be anticipated script from Amy Lippman and Christopher Keyser is a possible spin-off from "Sisters" and would focus on Hannah Bishop (Lisa Nicole Carson) as she explores a relationship with her biological family. Lippman explains "Hannah, who was adopted by the Bishop's when she was an infant has flirted with the idea of, but never followed through on finding her biological family." "This series would focus on that journey and how Hannah and her birth family deal with each other and the issues that arise from it." Insiders tell us that if this series is picked-up, Lisa Nicole Carson would pull double duty on both "Sisters" and "Life On The Other Side" until "Sisters" wraps in 2017. However the expectation is that this series wouldn't be fully prepped until 2016 anyway.

------Miami Country Club---- This spin-off from "Malibu Country Club" would take the same basic concept and apply it to a steamy Miami, Florida Tennis & Swimming Resort. It is being developed by Jennifer Lopez and Benny Mendina for Nuyorican Productions. Lopez & Mendina will serve as Executive Producers and Gen-TV's Erica Air-Harold will serve as day to day showrunner.

--------Psycho Ex-Boyfriends---- This very loose spin-off of "Psycho Ex-Girlfriends" would focus on a group of female friends dealing with difficult ex-boyfriends. It is being developed by Yvette Lee Bowser.

--------Law of Birth---- This potential spin-off from "Law of Death" would focus on the staff of a hospital specializing in difficult or traumatic pregnancy and deliveries. Gen-TV insiders say "while Law of Death perfectly deals with the issues surrounding death and dying; this series would eloquently address the many complications that can arise simply from being born."
Gen-TV's Cain Wentworth (President of Development) was asked at a press event in L.A. today for status updates on the previously announced spin-off's that the network had discussed earlier this year; and here is what he had to say about each of them:

---Not big surprise; as already confirmed, "Real Estate: New York" a planned "L.A. Real Estate" spin-off has been canceled and is dead in the water. As it's mothership series has been cancelled, so to has this project.

The future looks a lot brighter for possible series "Life on The Other Side"; a proposed spin-off of "Sisters" which would feature Lisa Nicole Carson's Hannah Bishop as she explores life with her biological family. Wentworth said of the project "It remains a priority for us; but likely will not be ready until after Sisters ends it's run after season 11; which is not for another five seasons." He explains "With Elizabeth Rohm having left the series; we feel the time is not yet right for LNC to exit the show; even temporarily so we will not be able to ready the project until that is possible."

A series looking far more likely is "Law of Birth", a possible "Law of Death" spin-off that would focus on a hospital that deals with traumatic or emergency pregnancy and deliveries. Wentworth says "Right now, LOD is still in its infancy and we are taking our time with it; but this spin-off looks very good; and could be ready as quickly as Fall 2015."

Also considered dead at the network "Psycho Ex-Boyfriends", a proposed off-shoot of the now cancelled comedy "Psycho Ex-Girlfriends". Wenworth says of the program "It was a solid pilot, but unfortunately without the mother series on the air to connect the dots it's not moving forward; not with us at least."

"Boston Homicide" (a spin-off of Detroit Homicide), looks possible, even as the original enters it's final season this fall. "We are looking into this as a strong contender; if it goes forward we would plan to use the final 3-4 episodes of DH to introduce this new series." As of now this program remains in development limbo; with a cast-contingency being held over it.

and lastly, things look unclear for "Miami Country Club", the once-considered a lock spin-off of "Malibu Country Club". "We are holding this one close to our vests and seeing how the mother show does in it's upcoming seventh season before deciding to move forward or not."

Also worth note; the network says that are current time they are also "in various stages" of planning or developing spin-offs of "The Killing Diaries", "Detective Mom", "The Mallory's of Jefferson County", "The Orphans of Mesa" and "Murder.com", though it's unlikely that more than one of these would actually make the air.

Hit Drama Cast Changes
---Family Man Cast Updates

The cast of Gen-TV's hit drama "The Family Man" is undergoing a major update. Following what the network deems "a successful transition from Noah Wyle to Scott Wolf [as our lead actor] (sic)" Gen-TV is updated the rest of the cast, to introduce characters more closely related to the John Davidson Adams character.

Gen-TV's Doug Bartell explains "Last season was about how John dealt with living in Roberts world; taking over Roberts job, dealing with Roberts friends, co-workers and family." "But this upcoming season will allow viewers to learn more about John's world, and see his family, his friends and how he deals with the world."

To accommodate this new focus, the network announces that they have made the following changes:

---Camryn Manhiem will exit the series and will not appear at all. Bartell explains "Her character, Judge Alexandra Wexler served as Roberts primary antagonist and was his most frequently seen challenging his ethics and decisions." "This role is no longer needed w/out Robert and was diminished last year when Manheim was dropped to recurring." "She will not return next season."

-----Julianne Nicholson, a regular since season 1 has been dropped to recurring. Bartell says "Connie was Roberts primary love interest, a focus no longer needed, so she won't be a regular anymore, however her role as a new D.A. and a former social worker still has relevance and she'll be featured recurring, mostly in the capacity of dealing with the case of the week."

Last season the series lost Sharon Stone, who quit the show; Bonnie Dennison, Kellie Martin, Alex Kingston and Timothy Omundson, all of who were fired after Noah Wylie quit as those characters only related to his storyline.

Toni Braxton was added last season as a recurring character, a love interest for Robert; but she will not return either.

The only main character other than John who will return to the series is Cecelia Francis played by Kristin Davis. Bartell says "Cecelia is a private-agency social worker at John's old firm who is one of John's closest friends and will serve as a reminder of the life John used to have before he took this job."

Gen-TV says that they will add several new characters to the show; including John's father and sister, and two new co-workers for John, a love interest and a former flame. The characters and casting information is below, and Bartell says "these new characters will serve to teach us more about John and where he comes from."

-----Craig T. Nelson (Coach, Gen-TV's Getting There) will join the cast as Frank Adams, John's estranged father who has recently been paroled from prison, after serving six years for "white collar crimes", but whom John was long-estranged from years prior. Bartell says "John and Frank have a sorted history stemming from Franks views on race and class. They have very different views and this came to light when John got engaged in college to Yvette who is African-American." Nelson has signed a contract and will be a regular on the show.

---Veteran actress Gigi Rice (Army Wives) has nabbed the role of Amelia Adams, John's older sister who maintains a relationship with both Frank and John; and serves as a catalyst for their first meeting in over 10 years. She is a recurring character.

---Lisa Bonet (The Cosby Show) has signed on for her first major TV role since "A Different World"/"the Cosby Show" in the 1980's and 1990's. She will play Yvette, the former fiancee, now client of John's who is fighting for custody of her three children and whose reemergence in John's life brings out many old wounds. Bartell says "theirs is a romance gone wrong, but an attraction that never died."

---Tate Donovan (24, Hostages, Deception) has nabbed a plum role as Trevor Dane, John's former best friend from law school who betrayed John in three of the most unforgivable ways; representing Frank in hist various legal proceedings; eventually revealing some secrets about John and also attempting to sleep with Yvette, while she was engaged to John. Trevor emerges in Johns life when they battle in court and the decades old animosity resurfaces instantly. It becomes almost unbearable when Trevor becomes a partner at John's firm, a factor John had no say in.

----Dan Gauthier (Faking It, One Life To Live) has nabbed the recurring role of D.A. Adam Mather, an unpredictable district attorney whose reputation on family law issues is shaky at best and will test John immensely.

and lastly, Navi Rawat (Numbers) has signed on for the regular role of Amy Maguire, John's young receptionist who quickly shows a knack for the law that John didn't expect.

Gen-TV has added Dianne Wiest to the cast of "The Family Man", she will join previously announced cast members Craig T. Nelson, Tate Donovan, Navi Rawat, Lisa Bonet and Gigi Rice. Season Four of the acclaimed drama debuts in October.

Two-Time Oscar Winner and Two-Time Emmy Winner Weist is best known to TV audiences for her role on "Law & Order" as D.A. Nora Lewin fron 2000-2002; and for her Emmy-winning work on HBO's "In Treatment" (2008) and Disney's "Avonlea" (1997). In film, she won two Oscars for her work in "Hannah & Her Sisters" (1986) and "Bullets Over Broadway" (1997). She joins the cast as Judge Noreen Ahbrams, a moral judge who will challenge John's ethics.

Default Summary Judgement, Danger Zone

Gen-TV News:
Danger Zone, Danger Zone: A Summary Judgement of Gen-TV Series

Gen-TV Series in Jeopardy?

As the 2014-2015 season is just a few months away, Gen-TV viewers may be in for a surprise; as they may find several of their favorite shows in the Gen-TV Danger Zone; or in danger of cancellation. As Amanda Green, Doug Bartell and Cain Wentworth prepare for a season of change, including plans for a near complete overhaul of it's schedule. Insiders tell us that multiple long-running series could find themselves on the chopping block this upcoming season.

Our sources explain "Gen-TV has a multitude of series that are running on fumes and could very well be cut next." "They had no problem cutting L.A. Real Estate loose after only 1 underperforming summer season, and there are programs they have with even worse track records." According to our sources at TV Ratings Unlimited, here are the returning shows they believe are possibly on the chopping block:

"Surviving Mom":

Summary Opinion:

Despite a stellar cast and acclaimed writers; this program has yet to ever truly deliver for the network. It's ratings are similar to those of "Brand New World" and "Turned Around", and both of those were cancelled this summer. Surviving Mom has never broken out critically which for Gen-TV is a major concern; and viewers have met it with a so-so response.

Final Verdict:

It will likely depend on the success or failure of Gen-TV's freshmen comedies such as "Cooking for Dummies", "Making It Work", "Dr. Dad" and "Threesome". Our sources say Surviving Mom is a decent utility player; but has yet to truly stand-out.

"Rules of The Game":

Summary Opinion

This show was a surprise success for Gen-TV last fall; however it remains to be seen if the program can retain it's audience. Especially since it's been off-air since May 2014.

Final Verdict:

It could go either way; it truly depends on how much of it's audience returns from last season.

"Revolving Door"

Summary Opinion

Ratings for this once red-hot comedy have fallen in recent seasons; last year it saw a massive 15% drop; and this summer it's short-run of original episodes were down 20% from that. Network has tried in vain to change the concept of the series and get viewers more interested. They've adjusted the cast; firing Dave Franco, adding Olivia Munn and making one character played by Rider Strong gay. Nothing has improved it's ratings; and critical acclaim has waned.

Final Verdict:

Its days could be numbered.

"The Family Man"

Summary Judgement:

Once this show was among Gen-TV's highest rated programs; but a sudden cast exit (Noah Wylie) cast doubt on the show. Replacement Scott Wolf managed to keep the ratings solid; despited a move to Friday nights. Critics remained enthralled.

Final Verdict:

So long as ratings manage to stay within 12-15 million viewers; we see no reason this show won't get renewed for a final season (season five). Which should be enough for Gen-TV to sell the show into local syndication.
