In a scene with Eddie he comes over to show Wally how the FM is working in his car. Wally tells him he's having a family problem and Eddie should go. Eddie gets in the car and we hear the classical music then he starts the car and leaves. Wouldn't you need to start the car first to hear the radio?

normally, but sometimes when we were kids and hooked up a stereo in our cars, we would hook them right to somewhere that was "hot" all the time, so you wouldn't need the key.
But, yes, it probably was overlooked by the producers.
