TV Billy Gardell To Host Syndicated "Monopoly Millionaires’ Club"

Billy Gardell To Host "Monopoly" Syndicated Game Show
by NELLIE ANDREEVA
August 6, 2014

"Mike & Molly" star, comedian Billy Gardell will host "Monopoly Millionaires’ Club", a one-hour weekly syndicated game show, from Scientific Games Corp. and participating state lotteries.

The show, based on the Monopoly brand, will serve as the companion TV series for the upcoming, multi-state lottery game of the same name, the first such pairing of a lottery and a TV game show.

It’s slated to premiere in early 2015, with distribution details TBD.

I’ve played Monopoly with friends and family since 1979,” said Gardell.

Hosting a big game show is a bucket list level type of job for me.

"Monopoly Millionaires’ Club" will be produced in front of a live studio audience in Las Vegas. Contestants, selected from the studio audience, will be vying for more than $2.5 million in prize money on each episode.

The studio audience will be made up of winners of the Monopoly Millionaires’ Club multi-state lottery game which goes on sale October 19. To qualify to win the four-night, five-day trip for two to Las Vegas, lottery players will register their lottery tickets online.

I remember back in the late 80s there was another Monopoly TV game show. I liked it so of course it was cancelled after only a few months, obviously nobody else did. I like Billy Gardell so we'll see how it goes. I hope I'll get to see it since it's going to be syndicated.

I think that the airing was 1990 on Saturday Evenings. I think that I watched it one time. I was about twelve at the time.

I remember Monopoly airing on ABC Saturday nights after Super Jeopardy. The show was hosted by an unknown named Mike Reilly and i remember the opening theme that had the lyric "M-O-N-O-P-O-L-Y". It wasn't a very good game show and after its short summer run, it never returned.

Well I liked it. I wonder whatever happened to the host Mike Reilly? I've never seen him on TV again.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Mike Reilly was a contestant on an edition of "Jeopardy!" originally broadcast in 1989.

Yeah I was reading that too. But that was before he hosted Monopoly.

"Monopoly Millionaires' Club" Gets a Premiere Date -- Exclusive
by Breia Brissey
Jan 7, 2015

2015 marks the 80th anniversary of the classic board game Monopoly. And on Feb. 7 and 8, the game will come to life on the small screen with "Monopoly Millionaires’ Club", a new syndicated game show hosted by Billy Gardell.

Executive produced by Scott St. John (Celebrity Name Game, Deal or No Deal) and Kevin Belinkoff (Family Game Night) each hour-long episode will feature five members of the audience selected at random to play games derived from Monopoly (Community Chest, Electric Company, Advance to Boardwalk etc.) with a chance to with up to $100,000.

In the show’s final round, every contestant chooses to keep his or her winnings or risk it all for a chance at $1 million.

Like most kids, I grew up playing Monopoly, so being able to help bring this iconic game to life with Monopoly Millionaires’ Club is such an honor for me,” Gardell told EW.

I get to see people’s lives change on a dime — or a million — every week.

Here, EW has an exclusive first look at the show’s intricate set, which took four weeks to build and features one of the largest LED floors ever on TV. The set LED lighting requires more than 8,500 channels of control and consists of more than 473,976 individual LEDs on more than half a mile of tape.

"Monopoly Millionaires’ Club" films at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and will air in national syndication.
