Hello fellow fans and thank you in advance! I'm trying to remember an old UM case about a man who reluctantly picked up a hitchhiker only to have to escape from said person when they became menacing. This man then drove around for a bit attempting to lose the hitchhiker. By the time this man returned home, his elderly mother whom he resided with, had been violently murdered. I think LE concluded that the dangerous hitchhiker was responsible.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |

This was the Charles Holden case. His mother that was murdered was Dorothy Donovan. The hitchhiker has been caught.

The case was also featured in a Forensic Files episode called "Stranger In The Night".

Thanks for the info guys! I used to watch the Robert Stack UM with my granny when I was a kid. I swear I went into mourning when Stack passed away! The Holden case was one that used to keep me up nights. The Patsy Wright and Matt Chase cases also scared the stuffing out of me back then. Oh the good old days...
