I prefer shows from the 80's and 90's they were funnier. I don't care for the single camera comedies other than The Middle and The Goldbergs.

Absolutely 80's & 90's.
Imho for the sitcoms there's no even question, any show from the past tear to pieces any nowadays' big hits which are imho badly written, dirty and in for cheap laughs. For the dramas maybe we can talk a little. There are many good shows, but they feel like the same: great acting, great attention to script and dialogues, great acting too. But they are all the same: gritty, serious, etc... even written, directed and narrated in the same way. It's like watching the same show but with different costumes and location. I prefer the diversity, the desire of experiment and the freshness of 90's. |

I still consider the 80's part of the classic era. The 90's were hit and miss for me. There were some good sitcoms put I never liked Friends and those Friends clones were awful for the most part. There are about a handful of great sitcoms on today...maybe a few more if you count cable. It's not like it was in the old days though.

So i was born in "83 so I grew up watching 80's and 90's shows. I would say I love both those decades of shows. I do like today's shows as well. That being said I would say the 80's and 90's had alot more shows that I enjoyed. Today we have some good shows but not as many.

I didn't get to see a lot of the 90's primetime sitcoms; I was busy with school and a job where I worked nights. But I wasn't interested in Friends, Seinfeld or any of their clones, and Friends got to way too soapy with their ongoing romance plots.
Today's shows, apart from a standout few, don't do anything for me. I liked the 80's because there were a variety of shows that catered to everyone, regardless of background, and there were no stupid, tacky reality shows. Back then it was TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes, Real People, Unsolved Mysteries and the Candid Camera reboot. COPS debuted in the late 80's but to me it's more of a 90's show, as is In the Heat of the Night, which is the type of drama I really miss. |
