Hey guys,

We hear some of the best commentators in the NFL, but there are also some of the ones that are worse

and so, I ask all of you

Past or Present, who do you consider THE WORST Announcers/Commentators and Interviewers in the NFL?

Please share your thoughts on all of them

Joe Buck and he's just as bad calling baseball games if not worse.

He's a good analyst, even if his voice is off-balanced.

Vin Scully. Maybe the best baseball play by play/color guy ever.
Red Barber. Taught and mentored Vin.
Jon Miller. A joy to listen to, he had me in hysterics when he would switch over to Spanish. He and Jim Palmer were great. I still have a hate for Angelos for being a dick and demanding that Miller be more more of a homer and Miller saying no and leaving.
Pat Summerall. Maybe the best play by play guy in NFL history.
Al Michaels is up there with Pat.
John Madden best analyst though he slipped his last few years.
Keith Jackson is the best college football announcer ever.
Verne Lundquist is excellent as well.
Gary Danielson's work with Verne has been excellent. Gary's breakdown of the last play in the Iron Bowl last year was perfect explaining why Auburn scored, because Alabama had all linemen, all fat guys on the field.
Bill Raftery on college basketball. So smooth he and Verne are great together.
Bob Costas is great at every sport he does or that he did now that he does mostly studio work.
Marv Albert is perfect for the NBA.

Those are the good ones.

These are the not so good.

Dick Vitale. His voice isn't nearly as much of a bleat as it used to be, it has toned to a blaring, but still the homerism dicksucking of Duke is beyond painful. All of his catchphrases wore out their welcome 15 years ago.
Jerry Remy. Now that is a bleating voice. Sounds like he has a huge ball of boogers caught in his throat and nose and the accent makes it even worse.
Mike Tirico. Just something about his delivery, it's just TOO smooth and practiced.
Phil Simms. "Jeem running, running, running, running. Too adenoidal.

I'm a old timer so I go way back. First you have to keep in mind that the announcers of yesteryear were professional announcers, schooled in their trade. If they did baseball they learned their craft in the minors way before they hit the majors. In football they got their rep doing college games before being called to the pros. Now if you have a storied career, you are pushed on TV and expect to excel. Plus in my era they all began in radio and thusly knew how to paint a picture to the listening audience. Not very easy to do when you have to make the listener believe they are on the 50 yard line or right behind home plate.

I was a loyal Giants baseball fan and was partial to their announcer, Russ Hodges and remember when he described Thomson's home run. It was the radio call not the TV call by Ernie Harwell. I did admire the "old Redhead, Red Barber who did the Dodger games along with another great Vince Scully. Mel Allen of the Yanks was great also. Harry Carey of the Cubs was not smooth. a real homer but was folksy.

In football the original owner of the New York Titans, later called the jets, was Harry Wismer, just loved his voice as I did Jim Gordon and Marty Glickman of the football giants.

Baseball also had Joe Bucks pop, Jack Buck who just as good and who could forget Les Keiter who did recreations when the Giants went to the coast in 58.

Basketball had Marv Albert and in bygone days Bud Palmer.

To me, it brings back fond memories glued to my radio and hearing Marty Glickman saying 'Connerly goes back to pass"
