Default Do You/Will You Dye Your Hair?

I think I am one of the very few people at my place of work that does not dye his/her hair. I could...I'm nearing 50 years old and my hair has been graying since I was 40.

It's cool if people do, I just find it odd that just about EVERYONE opts for the dye. I reason that this is what 50 looks like for me, why try to hide it? It costs money, it's not good for you, and it's a bother.

Good question, Michael.

Nope, I am proud of my short hair, which is currently brown, but wouldn't care should, and if, it turns gray.

Never have and never will. The smell of the chemicals used in the dye are way toooo strong for me to handle.

It's funny you mention this because I was just thinking about what it would be like to do something about my gray. It's coming in more and more at the temples. I'll turn 50 in less than 6 months...!

But I'm leaning toward leaving it alone, because the lady I'm interested in has never dyed her hair -- it's 100% silver gray and looks good on her! Any day now I'm going to surprise her as she's never seen my beard come in (always clean-shaven before) -- and she'll probably be shocked by how it's about 75% gray!

Only if I'm in a movie...I'd dye it blonde...my hair is dark brown.

You can get henna, which is a vegetable dye, in several colors. It's not bad for you.

I have my hair colored blonde at a salon. My hair stylist Liz is very talented and does terrific work. It does cost a lot of money and is time consuming. I spent three hours at the salon last week, but to me it's worth it. I look better as a blonde than a brunette.

If a person feels better with colored hair and can afford to maintain it, then it's a personal decision. I don't see how it's bad for me. I use high-end products to keep my hair in good condition.

I agree. I have no reason to dye my hair right now, but when the time comes, I definitely will. A guy at work is in his late 30's, but could totally pass for 50 due to the gray hair. I know that many don't mind, but that will not be happening to me.

I'm almost totally gray. Started going gray in my early 30's. Have no desire to dye it, plus my wife loves my gray hair. What anyone else thinks I couldn't care less.

I lost my hair rather early instead of graying, so I don't have much to dye.

My facial hair has natural red highlights (being 1/2 Irish).

I toyed with the idea, bought Grecian formula but never went through with it, I still may in the future. My mustache is almost all gray.

I've toyed with the idea but practically everyone is telling me I look good in salt and pepper hair, so I'm leaving it be - for now anyways.

I was about 20 when I first dyed my hair.I had rather dull brown hair so I went to a medium blonde. I have had auburn, dark brown, very light blonde (almost white). But I now am sticking with medium blonde. It suits my skin tone. Underneath it all I am fast getting very very gray. I don't intend on going that route!

I'm surprised at all the no's.

I am a born natural blond, but now that I'm older, I have to keep coloring it to keep it that way. The roots are the worst. It's more than still wanting to be blond. The dark roots make my hair look dirty and I have a hard time managing it.
