While I agree that it was none of his business, I do understand how he felt. As a kid, and sometimes as adults we admire a person so much that we tend to forget that they are only human and have their faults as we all do and I think this is what happened in this case. In Arnold's case it wasn't really a crush because she was pretty it was because he was learning in her class and she made it fun to learn so it really hurt his feelings when he discovered that his favorite teacher had lied to him. I think it was more the lie than that hurt more so than her job - therefore the teacher figured she should explain herself. Sometimes kids do deserve some explaination of what we deem "none of their business."
