TV Update: Rosie O'Donnell Exits "The View"

It's Official! Rosie O'Donnell Returning to "The View" for Season 18
by Michael Slezak
July 10, 2014

Somebody give Elisabeth Hasselbeck a hug. Or a tranquilizer.

ABC confirmed via Twitter today that Rosie O’Donnell is returning as a co-host on "The View" for Season 18, joining moderator Whoopi Goldberg, as the daytime talker undergoes a summer facelift.

ABC’s confirmation of O’Donnell’s return comes less than two weeks after word broke that both Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy will be parting ways with the talker — news that each of the ladies confirmed on Monday’s telecast.

O’Donnell previously co-hosted "The View" during its 2006-07 cycle. In 2011, she launched "The Rosie Show" on Orpah Winfrey’s OWN network, but it lasted less than a year.

On two occasions in 2014, O’Donnell returned to "The View", first in February and more recently as part of a “reunion” of all the show’s hosts, as tribute to boss and departing panelist Barbara Walters.

Default Report: Barbara Walters won’t have much influence over the new “View”

http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...heir-show.html

Walters will still retain the title of creator and executive producer. But with the departure of her longtime producer Bill Geddie, it’ll be ABC who will be calling the shots. According to The Daily Beast, it was ABC execs who decided to bring back Rosie O’Donnell.

Default Reports: Nicolle Wallace and October Gonzalez are frontrunners for “The View”

http://www.deadline.com/2014/08/the-...osie-odonnell/

Conservative MSNBC commentator Wallace, a former communications advisor to George W. Bush, John McCain and Sarah Palin, was portrayed by Sarah Paulson in the HBO Palin movie “Game Change,” while Gonzalez is the wife of former NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez (who now works for CBS Sports).

Default Report: Rosie is keeping a “tight grip” on “The View” guest list

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertain...icle-1.1997770

According to the NY Daily News, Rosie "has been attempting to slash guests from the schedule and infuriating staffers with her unpredictable moods.”

I think I may have liked her in the movie A League of Their Own a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure that's it...

I wondered, why Barbara if she was still connected to the show would have Rosie back. I read the tension years ago was terrible. But seeing ABC has the clout now I guess Rosie pushed her way . Do you think she will behave?

Default The View loses a top producer — was he fed up?

http://deadline.com/2015/02/the-view...tv-1201366127/

Co-executive producer Brian Balthazar is gone and moving to HGTV after six months amid rumors that he was upset over the "war of the Rosies."

Default Rosie O'Donnell quits The View for the 2nd time

http://pagesix.com/2015/02/06/rosie-...-and-her-wife/

Rosie and her wife, Michelle Rounds, have split, so she's exiting the ABC daytime talk show next week to focus on her kids. Rosie's rep, Cindi Berger, says of Rosie's exit: "I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave 'The View.' Next week will be her last."

The View is really a disaster zone right now. You still have hosts of that show come and go, and that host has to stay on for only a year or two. If I was a fan of The View from the beginning, I should have stopped watching it when Sherri Shepherd departed.

Oh No

I liked Rosie O'Donnell in the 90's when she was "Queen of Nice"...but by 2000...what happened?

She is just a miserable, pissy person who seems to hate everyone and everything. If she never returns to TV, I'd be happy.
