I noticed that too and thought it was kind of strange. I probably wouldn't have even known if you hadn't posted that it was to air tonight (thank you). In any event, I'll be watching it tonight.

Argh! Cold Justice is airing a case at the same time where the friend of a friend was murdered. Thank goodness one will be aired again at 11:00!

Good show. Bizarre case, among the most complex on this forum or any other. That's why I've seldom if ever commented on it. I believe in big picture likelihood as opposed to fixation on minutiae. Obsession with minor details will dependably lead astray more than any other practice. It's the reality I discovered quickly in Las Vegas. The people who were subjectively trying to win every game were swamped with conflicting variables, second guessing, and struggling to manage 50/50. The ones who were trying to win 57% or thereabouts via logical systems, and didn't care if they were often betting on teams they fully expected to fail, were happily accomplishing that 57% or thereabouts.

IMO, the one aspect you can confidently throw out is the prosecution version. Whatever happened that night, it's not what they described. This is another early version of crime scene re-enactment charlatans, like the Jeffrey MacDonald case. Lots of people and lots of blood so we've got to pretend we know how it got there and in what sequence. If we can't find a bed wetting rationale let's go with homosexuality. We don't know who was there or what happened but none of that matters as long as we're creative and articulate and angry enough, attaching that defendant to photos of those dead bodies. The young male with the wound survived so he probably did it. Disregard that young males in their physical prime are prone to strength and therefore survival. We don't have to mention any of that. Every jury has simpleton suckers who are prone to believing anything the prosecution claims, and they'll be enough to sway the others.

I didn't watch the documentary, but I did read the article...and as a huge Zeigler supporter, I'm shocked that he's trying to pin the murders on Eunice's brother now. That, IMO, screams desperation on his part. It's almost MacDonald-esque. When the other "suspects" fall through the cracks, it's time to latch on to a new one. Unless there's something groundbreaking in the documentary, I've always thought Eunice's brother was the one who backed up the story that the Edwards' were there to pick out furniture...not lure Eunice away from a violent closet homosexual.

I was shocked at how old and ill TZ looks. IMO he looks at least 15-20 years older than he is.

There is one thing that makes me believe he is guilty. That he took two men to the orange grove and got or tried to get them to shoot guns that belonged to him after dark on Christmas Eve. There is just no logical reason for this other than he wanted their prints on the gun, and gunshot residue on their hands. That was a dark, deserted dirt road back then. Why, with all he had going on that night would he make the time to take them out there unless he had an ulterior motive?

Tommy claims he never took him out there. I still don't know about this case. So many characters involved, multiple guns, eyewitness accounts and evidence in general.

In addition, a member of law enforcement came out and signed an affidavit years later saying that the saw (or heard, can't remember the specifics) other law enforcement officials drop or plan to drop a bullet matching one of Zeigler's guns.

I thought they could never match it to his gun(s)?

For my own benefit I'm going to need to cut to the chase here. I've always been very interested in this case (truth be told I love 99.9% of the Final Appeal cases) and my gauge on the forum is that most here feel that Zeigler is an innocent man.

So to take the contrarian POV for a moment (even though I also feel he's innocent) what are some of the things that speak the most of Zeigler's innocence to you?

The one issue I have with the Zeigler case is that it seems to be a case of Thomas Zeigler vs. The World (no not the ancient Playstation game WCW vs. The World wiseguy). It seems that from day one everyone connected to this case had it out for Thomas Zeigler. From the crooked judge, to the eyewitnesses, to the prosecutor currently handling the case. To me that was never logical.

I agree that the Zeigler case was dreadfully mishandled in terms of procedure but I have a hard time believing that all of these people had it out for Thomas Zeigler. For example did Judge Paul hate Zeigler so much that he converted his life sentence to a death sentence out of pure spite/revenge? I always had trouble swallowing that.

I'd be interested to hear others thoughts on this case because although I think Zeigler is innocent I think his methodology in proving his innocence seemed somewhat flawed in that he seems to believe that a large conspiracy of people were and still are out to get him.

That's always been a problem for me as well. Plus he had Edward Williams and Felton Thomas's testimony against him. I do think Judge Paul had it out for Zeigler. Plus, the one juror says she was coerced into changing her vote from not guilty to guilty after being intimidated by the other jurors. That should have been enough to warrant a new trial.

If Zeigler is innocent, to be fair, he would have every right to think that there were people out to get him. If he had no known enemies, it would be fairly frightening to know your wife and in-laws were murdered and you were blamed for it. There may not be a massive conspiracy, but it could appear that way to Zeigler especially with the way he had prior beef with Judge Paul.
