Jerry's Dad, Norm Mathers was a school priniciple and later Superintendent. It sure sounds like there was no "crap." in the Mathers' house. Mr Mathers states the following:
Reading this, it sounds like Jerry's Dad was strict. I don't think he would gotten away with some of the things at home that he did on the show! Jerry said his father was "Strict, but understanding." Parents were a lot stricter on their kids back then. None of this "count to 3" jive I hear parents use today.
